Demi
They were strangers living in the same house. Marriage was the worst thing for their relationship, she'd realized that far too late. They didn't sleep in the same bed anymore, or kiss goodnight and say good morning. She wasn't even sure if he loved her anymore. Did she even love him? Neither of them ever considered divorce, she didn't know why but suffering along side of him was far better than suffering without him. Her heart ached at the thought of him laughing and kissing someone else, she wanted him to be hers forever. It was selfish, but with him she couldn't picture her life any other way. Whether it was hopelessly in love or barely speaking she didn't see another option.
Demi's POV
I opened my eyes with a low groan. The light from the sun was streaming through the windows. Squinting, I checked my phone and nearly had a heart attack when the digits spelled 9:30 before remembering it was both mine and Wilmer's day off. With another groan I got up and walked down the stairs. Wilmer was sitting in the living room, and I sat on the other couch, clutching my cup of coffee in two hands.
"What are you doing today?" He looked up, as though startled that I'd spoken.
"I don't know, probably just hanging out here."
I nodded, but didn't speak again. This was terrible, we didn't fight, we just did nothing. In fact I'd rather we fought, I'd take it everyday if it meant him showing a form of emotion to me.
"Are you hungry?" I looked up with a small smiled and nodded, Wilmer walked into the kitchen and I buried my head into my hands.
This sucks.
I hadn't even noticed us drifting further and further apart until we stopped sleeping in the same bed, stopped telling each other that we loved the other. He never touched me anymore, we hadn't been intimate or even kissed in months. It was like we barely knew each other anymore. With a sigh I walked into the kitchen where the smell of eggs cooking made my stomach growl.
"My parents invited us over for dinner tonight, is that okay?"
He nodded, his face blank as he handed me a plate. I took it with a small smile and examined him as he continued to cook. Setting my food down I walked over to Wilmer, who's back was to me, and softly touched his shoulder. He turned, his face expectant as he looked down at me. I bit my lip, and slowly stepped forward, hugging him lightly. With a second of hesitation, Wilmer wrapped him arms around me and sighed. I relaxed my muscles at his touch and snuggled into his chest, hearing the steady beating of his heart was comforting. He was, is, and always will be, my rock.

"Hey guys! Come on in!" I felt Wilmer's hand on my lower back, guiding me into my parent's house. My mom didn't know about my marriage falling apart, it was an unspoken rule between Wilmer and I to keep our unhappiness to ourselves. I hugged my mom and smiled as Wilmer kissed her cheek.
"Hey Dianna, it's good to see you."
We walked further into the house and Eddie appeared from the living room where a football game played on the tv.
"Hey guys! Long time no see!" Wilmer shook his hand while I hugged Eddie tightly.
"We've been so busy lately, I'm sorry dad."
He smiled and shrugged, "Hey it's no biggie, I just know Maddie has missed you alot."
I felt the guilt wash over me at the mention of my little sister who just turned sixteen. I'd been so wrapped up in my own problems that she's completely slipped my mind.
"I promise to come around more often." I vowed, and my dad nodded in approval.
"So who's winning?" Wilmer saved me from further conversation of Maddie as my dad and him at down.
"Cowboys are up by ten." My dad said happily, and my mom sat next to him, pretending to know what was going on in the game.
Not wanting to be the only one standing, I sat next to Wilmer, close enough so my mom wouldn't be suspicious yet also giving him his space. As the game progressed, Wilmer and my dad both shouted and cheered at the screen. As the other team scored, Wilmer cursed under his breath and let out a tiny giggle, causing him to look down at me with a smile.
"What are you laughing at?"
I shrugged, "It's just a game."
He shook his head, pretending to be ashamed but as his eyes trained back on the TV I could tell he was trying not to smile. Hesitantly, I moved closer to him, and leaned my head on his shoulder. I knew he thought all of this was just for show, but it still made my heart warm as his arms fell around my waist and pulled me closer to his body, letting me cuddle into his chest. I breathed deeply, taking in the scent on his cologne and the feel of his body against mine. It felt right, and I missed it more than anything in the world.
