Hey guys! Presh here! I'm sorry I took a major leave of absence without consulting you guys.
Well, I would be making it up to you by publishing a lot of chapters. Enjoy!

By the time I reached home, it was past 10. I was exhausted, especially from crying. I looked into the rearview mirror of Kore's car and gasped at the reflection of myself.

My eyes were bloodshot and a little tinier from crying. The mascara smeared around my eyes made me look like a freaking ghost. I figured I'd take a bath and clear my head before o go to return the car keys to Kore.

I made a move to step out of the car when the tears flowing down my cheeks stopped me.

Why the hell is all these happening to me? Why? When all I ever wanted was a good life with a career and a family? What did I ever do to Lola? Why won't she leave me alone?

I wiped my tears away quickly before I went into another session of crying. Highlighting from the car, I locked it and walked into my apartment.

I frowned when I opened the door with ease, It's not locked, only to find Kore in my apartment, his arms folded against his chest pacing about the living room. Good, I don't have to get to his apartment tonight.

His legs were slightly shaking and he looked so deep in thought. What's wrong with him? He didn't even notice me until I dumped his car keys in the key plate by the door.

He finally looked up and I muttered a 'hi'. His face broke into a smile but out of the corner of my eye, I could see his left hand twitching.

"Hey El", he rushed over and wrapped his arms around my body from behind. I promised to kick him for that nickname but I could deal with that later. All I wanted to do now is cry and pray for my best friend to wake up.

I need David badly. He's the only one that could restore some sort of balance in my life.

"Hey, what's wrong?", Kore drew his eyebrows together. "Are you okay? You look like you've been crying"

I slowly removed his arms and turned to him.
"I'm fine Kore. I just need to rest, that's all", I said and sauntered off to the bedroom.

I was changing into my nightdress when I heard Kore's voice from the doorway.
"I made dinner. Would you like to eat before sleeping?"

"I'm not hungry", I mumbled and walked towards the bed, landing on it with a thud and sliding under the covers wishing it could swallow all of my problems just like it had just swallowed me.

I heard movements and within seconds Kore pulled the duffel from my head and raised an eyebrow.
"A bath? You won't even take a bath? You always say you can't do without it"

"Kore, I do not feel like taking a bath", I replied and he sighed.

He stood up  and walked to the other side of the bed, lifted the covers and slid in. He moved closer and motioned for me to place my head on his right arm, wrapping both arms around me. He held me like that for a few seconds before he sighed again and began to draw lines on my neck.

"Your silence is killing me baby. You sure you don't want to tell me what happened?"

I paused for a second before I blurted out, "He was shot". I felt a muscle in his arm twitch before he sat straight, his back against the bed. I did the same and turned to face him.

I saw a flicker of emotion in his eyes. It looked like fear. Was he afraid for me? The next moment it was replaced with concern as he touched my cheek, slowly wiping away the tears that had fallen. I hadn't even noticed I was crying.

He moved closer and held my hand, giving me a nod that meant I could continue. "Remember the guy I told you about this morning? That I was going to see? My friend back in the days?". He nodded. "He was shot and now on the brink of life and death", the words came out muffled as I was sobbing uncontrollably now.

"Kore, I don't know what I'd do without him and it's my fault that this happened to him. He...he can't die, I'd lose it Kore, I swear I'd lose it",

Kore sighed, gathered me in his arms and began rubbing my back.
"Shhhhhhhh... It'd be fine. Everything is going to be alright, he'd be fine".

"He...he can't die, I...I can't let him die", I added as my whole body shook. He tightened his arms around me and occasionally placed kisses on my forehead, cheeks, chin and neck.

For some minutes, we remained like that; me crying against his chest and him mumbling words to calm me down.

I did calm down after a few more minutes and I sniffled, pulling away from his embrace.
"Look at me", he said softly cupping my cheeks. I looked up and my slightly blurred eyes met with his unusual brown eyes.
"I'm here for you okay?", he placed a kiss on my forehead quickly before continuing,
"Don't you dare think you'd go through this alone Ella. I would be with you every step of the way. Do you understand?"

I strained a smile and gave him a peck on his lips before nodding and muttering a "thank you"

"Good. Now you go to sleep. We have the hospital to go to tommorow", I didn't protest and let him guide me under the duffel. He slid in with me and protectively wrapped his arms around my waist with my nose nuzzled against his neck. I guess not being alone is great sometimes.

I slowly drifted off to sleep when I heard Kore ask,
"Ella, what's the name of this guy?"

"David", I muttered, sleep dripping heavily from my voice. I could barely hear Kore gasp and the last thing I saw before sleep gripped me tight and dragged me into its palace was Kore slowly sliding out of bed and leaving the bedroom.
