The Flight

"Alright" I thought to myself "this is no big deal all I gotta do is get this gigantic mechanical lion to take off. Simple... ish."

"Paladins please take you time" Allura said through the headset "you need your lions to accept you and bond with you-" she stopped for a moment and I could hear a muffled voice in the background "Oh and Romelle says to have fun."

I chuckled at that and I could here the rest of the paladins laughing also. 

I took a deep breath gripping the gears. Before I spoke I quickly turned off my headset. I really didn't want the other paladins to hear.

"Hey Red" I said "um I don't know if you can hear me or if I'm just talking to myself but whatever. So I don't really know how to work you so I mean if you could just give me some guidance because I don't why but I just trust you. Maybe because you picked me or something but I do trust you and I hope you can trust me."

The lion roared to life and I jumped slightly in shock. I felt a rush and I didn't know why but I felt like I could fly this lion now.

I turned back on my headset and heard Pidge's voice "Ha! Oh my god thank you!

I smiled "Your lion started Pidge?"

I couldn't see her but I could particularly hear her smile "Hell Yeah!"

I grinned and suddenly I heard Keith's voice over the headset "Go loose Pidge!"

I shrugged he must have taken Allura's headset. I heard her laugh and next thing I saw her lion shoot off. It flew through the open ceiling and I heard her yell in delight. Next I saw the blue lion shoot off. Keith hollered at his boyfriend.

"You know the call me the tailor because of how I thread the needle" Lance said as he flew through a small gap.

Keith laughed "you go babe!"

I heard some rustling and once again muffled voice.

"Keith would you give my back my headset!"

"Well excuse me for wanting to check up on my boyfriend."

"Get. Your. Own!"

I laughed at their argument. I decided it was my turn to get in the air.

"Alright red you better help me along with this" I teased a lion.

It was weird now that it think about it.

Gripping the gears I took a deep breath. Suddenly without even thinking I thrusted them forward.

"Oh shit!"  I yelled as the lion shot upwards.

Pidge and Lance'a laughed at me and I hissed "Oh shut up it was scary."

"You have always been like a kitten" Pidge teased.

I scoffed while Lance snickered. I opened my mouth the speak when I heard "HOLY FUCKING SHIT!"

I expected that to be Takashi but I didn't really think it sounded like him. Suddenly I saw the yellow lion flying by.

"Hunk?" Everyone said simultaneously.

"I can't believe I just said that" Hunk's voice was filled with regret.

"Oh Hunk" I said "don't worry no one judges."

"I will" Lance piped up "your supposed to be the saint of the group."

"I know" Hunk whined trying to straighten out his lion.

"Alright so where's our leader?" I asked.

"You mean your lov-" Lance tried to say but he was cut off by Takashi laughing.

"WHOOOOO" Although I couldn't see him I knew he was beaming.

"There he is" I smiled as the black lion joined the little circle we had created.

"Sorry I talked a lot to black" Takashi said been emphasise in the lot.

"Stubborn?" I asked.

"More like picky" Takashi answered aging a laugh.

"Paladins" Allura spoke once again "we will perform some simple training skills firstly."

We all gave different variation of okay as an answer. Platforms rose from the ground. Sharps turns and right spaces. A training course.

Lance grinned "you know they call me the t-"

"Already said it Lance" Pidge commented.

"Yeah and who's they?" Hunk asked.

"Well obviously my adoring fans" Lance grinned.

"So Keith" Takashi said.

We all laughed expect for Lance who was obviously pouting.

"Paladins you may began the course" Allura said "but please be careful."

Lance was the first to shoot off laughing as he went. Next was Pidge. Then a hesitant Hunk. Takashi's lion looked back at me before it left. I waited awhile before I went flying.

I went into the gigantic circular hole to be immediately greeted with a wall. I took sharp turn and anger to avoid
it. Relief washed over me but it didn't last for long as another wall was in front of me. I looked around to see no turns. I quickly flew up to dodge it. It was the only way to go after all. Upwards I was greeted with a bunch of different beams scattered across the walls. I avoided them easily. My lion was much quicker then the other ships I had ever flew but I liked it. Once past the beams through was a long open stretch. I frowned. Surely that wasn't it. Next thing I knew lasers were being blasted at me from left and right. I quickly made my way around them. Getting hit by one in the process. It didn't have much of an effect but I figured that in a real battle it would.

Once I reach the end of that stretch I could have sworn it would be over but alas something stood at the end waiting for me.

"Oh what the fuck is that?" I blinked at it.

It was a robot not as big as the lion but not far off it. In its hand it held a sword.

"Do I have to fight this motherfucker?!" I exclaimed.

I got no answer just the robot suddenly moving. It lashed up at me and I got out of its way just a second before it would have collided with me.

"Okay" I told myself "I can do this. I can do this."

The machine lunged at me and I clung to the wall.

"Okay maybe I need a little help" I gave in "Red? A little help please."

The lions mouth opened and I frowned. How was this any help. The sword swung once again and I punched off my perch on the wall.

I kicked the sword with the bottom of the lions feet and the robot staggered backwards slightly. I pounced on it and tried to get at its legs but its sword blocked me. I retreated back and decided if I wanted to win I had to get rid of the sword.

I dashed forward and let the sword swing straight at me. I suddenly gripped the side of the sword in my lion's mouth. The robot faltered. I ripped the sword out of it's grip and flipped it so that the handle was in the lion's mouth. I sliced it at the robot and it was far to slow to dodge. It's head came clean off and I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

"Excellent work Adam" Allura said through the headset "you are the first to complete the course out of you teammates."

"Speaking of that where are they?"

"All in a different t style of training course" Allura said "it may look like you were going into the same one but it was just an illusion."

"Oh."

"You can come out now and wait for the rest of the paladins."

A hole appeared in the arena I was in and I gladly flew through.
