YOUR POV
One Sunday afternoon, I was sitting in a cafe that is close to my house. I was there to do some of my school work. I find it easier to go somewhere like the cafe or the library to do my school work because of the constant bickering that goes on in my house. My mum and dad were never ones to argue up until recently. Something has changed but I don't know what, whenever I bring it up to my mum or dad they just shrug it off as if they don't know what I'm talking about.
Anyway, I'm in the cafe, finishing writing my biology notes, when someone walks in, to be more specific, a tall, hazel eyed, brown curly haired, handsome guy walks in and catches my eye. He catches me looking at him and gives me a closed mouth smile. Usually I'm not a very confident person when it comes to talking to guys, but there was something about this brunette that brought out that confidence in me. He had just ordered his drink when I got the courage to go over to him and start a conversation.
I tap on his shoulder to catch his attention. "Hey" I say not really knowing what else I could say. "Hey" he says back, a smile evident on both our faces as the barista gives him his drink. I take this time to take in his facial features more in-depth. I notice that he has a small scar on his right cheek and his lazy eye.
I'm so busy taking in his facial features that I don't realise that he has stopped talking to the barista and is now facing me.
"Are you okay hunny?" he asks, as he waves his free hand in front of my face.
"uh...yeah I'm... I'm good" I struggled to get my words out. "Sorry I haven't introduced myself, I'm Y/N" "Nice to meet you Y/N, I'm Shawn." he returned with a smile. "So, what brings you to this cafe on this lovely Sunday afternoon in Toronto?" he asks.
"School work, you know, the usual." I reply "What brings you here?"
"Oh you know, I was just walking past when I look in the window and see this beautiful girl sat at a table, and I thought I should come in and try and get her attention." Shawn replies with a smile.
"Which girl is she, maybe I could talk to her for you." I reply jokingly.
Shawn starts looking around, when his eyes stop at the table with my school work on when he says "Oh well she was at that table over there, but it seems like she's left her stuff but is no where to be seen" he says trying to contain his laughter.
"Maybe she found a cute guy that walked in and is talking to him" I reply with a smile.
"If that were true, what would she say if I asked her for her number?" he says with a huge smile on his face.
"I think she'd ask you to give her your phone so she could put her number in" I answer back with a smile just as big.
"Yeah?" he asks. "Yeah" I reply.
Shawn hands you his phone, where you see a new contact page already open. I put my name and number in and hand him back his phone. Once he has his phone back, I notice him typing something, suddenly I feel a buzz in my back pocket. I take out my phone to see a new message from an unknown number. I look up at Shawn with a raised brow, and he just looks down at me and says "I had to make sure you didn't give me a fake number."
I give him a smile, before looking back on my phone to save his contact. Whilst I'm doing this, I hear a click come from Shawn's direction, I stop what I was doing and look up at him and see that he has taken a picture of me. I give him a questioning look and he just shrugs and says "I needed a picture so I can see your beautiful face whenever you call me."
"Who says I'll be calling you?" I said cockily.
"Come on Y/N, how can you resist this" he says pointing at himself. I look at him and shake my head whilst letting out a small laugh.
The two of you then moved to the table you were sat at previously and continue talking. Before you know it, one of the workers of the cafe comes over and let's you both know that the cafe is closing soon. The two of you look at each other and smile after the worker leaves the two of you. I start to pack up my work whilst Shawn just looks at me whilst I do this. Once I've finished packing my things away, I look up at him and smile at him. The two of us stand up, say a quick thanks to the worker and then leave the cafe. Me and Shawn are now stood outside the cafe door, looking at each other, taking each other in as if it's the last time you'll ever see each other. I know I've only known him for a couple hours, but I really feel as if we have a connection unlike anything I've had before. I really don't want this to be the last time that I see him, and something deep in my gut told me that this wouldn't be the last time that I'll see him. Shawn moves closer and gives me a hug, as I breathe in I can smell the aftershave he's wearing and I must admit that he smells really good. The hug lasts a few moments before he gives me one last squeeze before he pulls away.
"I'm gonna text you when I get home, okay? I really enjoy talking with you, and I hope you feel the same." he says, the smile still evident on his face.
I give him a smile and say "Of course, I also enjoyed talking with you Shawn. I'll be waiting for your text."
We both look at each other for a few more moments before the both of us say our final goodbyes before turning and walking in different directions; him to his car, whilst I walk back to my house. Whilst talking to Shawn I forgot all the bad stuff that's going on in my life, like the fact that as soon as I walk into the house I will most likely hear my parents at each others throats. This is when I realise that I really did enjoy Shawn's company and he made me forget about how bad my home life has been lately.
