❝He's my little brother. Not yours.❞

The first day of school for Lilianna and her younger brother, Liam was actually in the middle of the year but luckily they started a new semester. Lilianna was very nervous as she'd be leaving her best friend behind and having to either make friends or ignore everyone and right now her preference was to ignore everyone and just make it through her junior year.

Lilianna put on her outfit, hoping that the girls at this school didn't dress up everyday. For Lilianna, a floral top paired with a pair of dark jeans and a pair of black heeled ankle boots. She put her hair up into a ponytail before going downstairs. Her mom was home and was dishing breakfast to Liam.

"Hi Mom. Liam." She greeted both of them, "Um, Liam? Do you want a ride to school?"

Liam nodded, his mouth already stuffed with eggs. Lilianna rolled her eyes and sat down at the table devouring her food in a mere ten minutes before she headed back upstairs to brush her teeth.

When she got in the car with Liam, he immediately turned to her, "Um. I'm trying out for the lacrosse team today. Will you stay after and watch?"

Lilianna smiled, "You are?"

"Yeah..." Liam smiled.

"I'm proud of you, Li, considering what happened at Devenfort." Lilianna smiled at her brother before pulling out of the driveway, "And yes, I will stay after school and watch."

"Thanks." Liam nodded, "Are you going to try out for anything or join anything?"

"Band maybe but I don't know if I'll have time. I have a full schedule plus I still have to work at La Bella." Lilianna reminded her brother. It wasn't that she didn't want to join something as she knew it would look good on her college and job applications, but she was overwhelmed and changing schools in the middle of the year wasn't helping with that, "I'm trying not to let anything distract me, this year."

"Are you not going to try to make friends?" Liam asked.

"Li." Lilianna sighed, "I'll try but you know I've never really been good at making friends."

Liam didn't answer her and Lilianna was sort of glad that he wasn't pushing her to make friends. Lilianna and her brother had always been close but last year they didn't talk as much and Lilianna blamed herself a little bit. When he started to have problems with his coach and his team, Lilianna just pushed him and his feelings aside. And now she was paying the consequences. Even though they weren't that high for her, she was still upset.

Lilianna pulled into the high school parking lot, narrowly missing a couple of students who weren't watching where they were walking. She turned to her brother before he got out of the car, "So, I'll see you after school."

Liam nodded before getting out of the car. Lilianna watched until he had gotten almost to the door of the school before she grabbed her backpack off of the backseat and climbed out of the car. She locked it and made her way to the front of the building, trying not to notice the way many of the students stared at her.
