The door opened with a slam to Virgil's and Patton's shared apartment and in came a stressed out Virgil. Patton looked up from his phone and immediately ran to the 24 year old man, asking what was wrong and trying to get him to sit on the couch. Virgil protested and wanted to go to his room, that was until Patton used his 'puppy eyes'™ . In all honesty, how could you say no to those eyes?
Patton lead the anxious man to the couch and quietly asked "What's wrong, Vee?" Virgil sighed and lifted one of his legs up on the seat.
"Nothin'" He lied, Patton knew this and tutted. The bubblier housemate wrapped his arms around Virgil, not letting go.
"Veevee! C'mon!", Virgil didn't really want to tell this to anyone. Who knows what bad things could happen if he did? Everyone could hate him! It was hard enough getting people to like him in the first place and he could just lose everyone with a click of his fingers (or in this situation, saying a few words). He did feel safe telling this to Patton but then he was friends with the other person so it could still end badly. Screw it."I don't think Roman and I are working out" Virgil admitted, immediately getting a huge weight of his shoulders.
"What do you mean by that?"
"I-I...I don't love him Patto- Sure he's a great and good looking guy, beautiful even, but h-he just isn't my type...y'know?"
A frown came to Patton's lips but was quickly replaced by a caring smile, remembering his past relationship.
"So you wanna break up with him and just be friends?"
"Yeah...", Virgil rubbed his eyes, getting eyeshadow smudged on his index fingers. He didn't care.
"Well don't worry! Thats what happened to us, right?". Virgil remembered back to when they were younger and smiled.
"Yeah..." Virgil had hope. Yes, he wanted to stay friends with Roman but by breaking up with him then it could end in heartbreak and misery. Virgil did this once before -but he didn't want to stay friends- and now Patton is dating that person (Except they're sort of a different person now). Not good. The good thing is that staying friends has happened before with Virgil so it was a 50/50 chance here.

Later that night Virgil had all of those thoughts come back to him. Becoming Roman's boyfriend has given him more connections in life with great people and he didn't want to lose that. It was just that they were not working out. At all. Virgil did want to break up with Roman but at the same time it could hurt Roman's feelings. Virgil hated hurting somebody's feelings.
Groaning, he got up from his bed and put on his hoodie. He grabbed his phone and backpack and was just about to leave when-
"Vee?" A sleepy Patton asked, peering out of his doorway "Wachu doing?"
"Going for a walk...need to clear my mind..." He replied, hand raising towards the door handle. Patton nodded and told him to text him every so often. The mean leaving smiled, knowing that Patton worries too much. "Don't worry. I'll be fine."
"Okay..Be safe"
"Alright...Dad"
Virgil opened the door and walked out, running down the dimly lit stairs.
