ONE AND ONLY

Once upon a time I came across you, felt enchanted,

Charming with your hoodie even if you always ranted.

So ill-tempered, I don't know if our love is ill-omened

I cry, I laugh, I don't know if I should throw in the towel

When someone upsets you, you speak gruffly and scowl.

I feel as if I were handcuffed, with you, I'll never flourish,

If you love me, it is your hold on me you must relinquish.

Do not be sorely disappointed if I just back out of loving you,

Because before leaving, I will bestow my last kiss upon you.

I will not allow you to take the reins; you aren't my better half,

I am already complete, so don't decide anything on my behalf.

I adore you, but I won't follow though if this gets burdensome.

Sometimes it's a strain; my friends keep saying it is worrisome.

They tell you about my struggles, you say they're meddlesome.

You hold me back and tears well up in my weepy visage.

I'm so soppy and slavish splitting up is what I can't envisage.

I get this bittersweet sensation when I am with you, it is lovely but loathsome.

I need to depart before my self-esteem is obliterated even if I feel lonesome.

You aren't my one and only, there are plenty of fish in the sea, I might get some.
