I was at the park with my mother when I ran into him. I was playing with a ball when it rolled away into the bushes. I went to go get it i felt a cool hand graze mine I looked up and there he was, skinny, pale, blue eyes, black hair, all of it. I couldn't have been more than five so of course I asked him to play, but if I had known about the consequences... I wouldn't change a thing.

His name was Marcus Drake and we became close friends, he'd come over during the weekends or I'd go over to his place and we'd just hang out. But one day Marcus didn't show up at the park so I assumed he was just busy. But a day turned into days and days in to weeks. I started to get really nervous, I mean no one is that busy... right?

I went over to see what was happening when Liam answered instead of one of his brothers I knew something was up.

"Hello Nia, Marcus is a bit sick sorry. It'd be best if you went home dear." He said with that smooth cool tone all the Drake brothers had.

" Mr. Drake,-"

"Liam" He cut me off. We'd known each other for  a while now and to him it seemed odd for me to call him "Mr." as he was like another sort of father figure to me.

"Liam, it's been weeks. How sick is he?" I pleaded for an answer. He just sighed
"Look why don't you just go home and we'll call you when he's better. How does that sound." While it didn't sound good, and I knew something was on his mind I just hadn't been skilled enough to read it, I just nodded my head and walked away.

But it wasn't till three weeks later Marcus finally showed up again. It was Marcus... but... at the same time it wasn't. Something about him seemed dull, quiet, cold,... dead....

"And where have you been?" I asked with a smile to let him know I was joking.

"Hey Nia. How are you?" He smiled that nieve smirk.

"Fine. You would know if you had been here."

"I'm sorry," He shrugged.

"What was wrong? I know you weren't sick. No one is sick for that long unless it's a serious disease that you had to be like, hospitalized for."
"It's nothing I'm fine now." He shrugged.

"Okay I know that I'm not completely skilled at reading minds but I can read you Drake and I know that it's not nothing." Marcus knew that my dad was a mind reader and my mom was technically queen of witches but not really. He also knew I inherited their skills.

"Nia stop. I said it's nothing you probably should go home." He just turned away from me.

"What?" I asked

"Nia! I said go home!" He yelled. Only... the only word that left his mouth was my name.

I jumped up and ran. I could explain what just happened only I didn't want to. I needed to get home. I had just heard what he was thinking. I knew this was going to happen at some point, but I didn't think it would start now. Unless... unless it hadn't started. I could read people's mind when they were angry... and I mean Marcus did seem pretty angry. But that didn't matter I just want to get home.

"Mom! I'm home" I slammed the door shut, then I walked into the living room where I saw what I never wanted to see. My father lying dead and bloody on the floor, my mother in the kitchen with a blue skinned guy standing over her. He looked up at me with three sets of sharp fang like teeth showing. He snarled, I did the only thing I could think reasonable, I screamed.

Out of nowhere a blur of pale skin and black clothes rushed in the room and threw what looked like a wooden stake at the blue guy then picked me up like a baby and ran out.

"Something isn't right, you should go check on her Sebastian. Why is it always me?  She can take care of herself dad, yeah because a girl who can take care of herself just stands there screaming while a Hel-Blar is about to kill her." The blur said but again nothing escaped his mouth, but now I knew who the blur was, Marcus' older brother Sebastian. Just now the question is, How in the world is he running so fast.
