Get the Regret over
Chapter 7
Suddenly~Chance MeetingJames D. Maslow
I suddenly dropped a book from the first floor when I wanted to pick my phone from the jeans pocket and it’s accidentally hit a random guy there. Oh my bad! Why did I have to be very incautious?! I dashed through the stair heading for the guy to apologized, and suddenly my shoe stepped on paper, and I slipped off to the ground before the random guy that had been smashed by that book. Damn! I really am clumsy and I hated to be clumsy, yet I kept being a clumsy person! That guy was laughing at me like it was revenge. Yeah, then it’s paid off, I didn’t have to send my sorry for him. No…I better asked for forgiveness. I instantly stood up and tidied up my shirt first and immediately faced him.
“My deepest apology. I wasn’t very careful…” I said. The guy smiled at him.
“Yeah, it’s okay, James…” He promptly giggled. Okay, that’s inappropriate! I was apologizing politely and he giggled plus calling my given name like he already knew me. “Are you James David Maslow from faculty of architecture, right?” Who would I be?! Wait…How did he know my name?
I nodded my head. “I am James David Maslow. And you are?” I narrowed my eyes, observing him from the top of his head down to the tip of his shoes, thinking that could it be we had met before—in a second, I had no idea who he was. “How do you know my name?” I quizzed.
“Well, everybody should have known about you—one of best students here.” I moved my eyebrows upward, opened my mouth like airheaded person, disbelieving his statement. Huh? Really? One of best students? Whoa, you make me flattered, Mister. “The name’s Beau by the way. I am from the same faculty as you.”
What a coincidence! This Beau was much like Lucy Stone’s ex-boyfriend—his manly face structure, tall body—approximately 6.2 feet, taller than me a bit and the way he talked—cool and, a fairly light-hearted. I hoped his personality won’t be like that Big Time Beau.
“Nice to meet you, Beau.” I smiled. “Can I have the book back?” He realized that he was still holding my textbook as he quickly handed it over me.
“Oh right…Here’s your textbook.” He said, reading the title. “Ptolemy’s Almagest? It’s not about architecture, isn’t it?”
“Of course not, it’s about the apparent motions of the stars and planetary paths.” I explained too much. I didn’t get why I loved to elaborate details, especially about science—any kind of science.
“Sounds like astronomy…” Yeah, it’s clearly about astronomy, not sounds like. “Umm…Anyway…Wanna go for lunch together?”
“Ah, sorry. I can’t. I promised my friend to return his book before next subject. Perhaps later…” I rather heaved a sigh. This book that smashed his head was actually belonged to Logan, he left it in my house yesterday when he’s struggling and asking my help to finish his assignment.
“Owh..That’s too bad…I am looking forward to talk to you, James…” He paused, giving me masculine look in his eyes. ”Is it okay if I call you James, right? or you prefer David or Maslow? Or any other name?”
