Friends or More (Niall Fanfic)

Chapter 20

I look at our hands together and my insides just shatter. It feels perfect, complete. I look up at him and he look over and smiles. I smile back. Could he like me or was this just a friendly hand hold.

I think back to mine and Harry's conversation earlier today. One they were leaving for tour in 2 weeks. Two, they will be on tour for six months, 3 of it over seas. Three, if we ended up dating he's leaving and I won't see him for months. Maybe Harry was right. Maybe it's not a good time. Plus I don't even know if he likes me.

He pulls into a video store. Wanna help me pick one out. I nod and unbuckle my seatbelt and get out of car. I didn't want to get out. I never will know when I feel this complete again. I didn't want to let go of his hand.

We walk into the store and pick out a movie. The rest of the ride was quiet and we didn't hold hands. I was a little sad cause I liked his hand in mine.

We walk into my house and I immediately change into clothes. Actually the clothes I wore earlier. I see Niall grabbing popcorn and I just smile. He seems so comfortable at my place and I love that.

I sit on my couch and he takes the other which makes me sad. My phone rings and I pick it up. I talk to my sister while Niall is laughing away at this dumb movie he picked out.

"I'm going to grab a beer do you want one?" He asks. "Yeah sounds good" as he get duo he grabs two beers and hands me one. He starts walking towards the other couch. This boy gives me mixed signals like crazy. "You know friend," I winked "you can keep me company over here" patting the other side of the couch. He shrugs and gets up and takes s seat next to me but keeps a distance.

What is up with him. One minute he's holding my hand and the next he's distant. Was it something I did or said. He sees me staring at him and I send him a weak smile. "What's up" he asks. "Nothing" I say. "Then why are you looking at me" he laughs out. I shrug my shoulders. "Okay then" putting his attention back to the movie. I look at him again but make a funny face. He quickly looks at me and I quickly turn to watch the movie with a straight face. I do that several more times. "Why are you looking at me" he asks. "I'm not" I smirk. "Yes you are" "ah no" joking with him smiling. He turns back to watch the movie. Minutes later I stick my tongue out and he grabbed it not even glancing at me. He laughs. "You were looking at me" he laughs. "Shut up" I saw with his fingers holding my tongue. He laughs again and let's my tongue go. "Your adorable you know that" he smiles. My fave turns reds and I smile.

The movie ended and he says "I better get going you have to work in the morning and you still have to drive me home" I was s little sad he wanted to leave. Just his company was perfect. "If you want unless you want to spend the night again and I'll drive you home on my way to work. You know so Barbara won't harass you for leaving her at dinner" I say. "Or if you don't want I'll take you home" I see his smile grow wider. "You don't care" he asks. I shake my head no. "I'll have one of the boys pick me up tomorrow." I nod.

He puts another movie in that I had lying around. "You should get some sleep you have work tommrow" "naw I'll stay up with you" I smile. He grabs one of my couch pillows and puts on his lap. He pats and says "here lay down, relax" I smile and do what he told me. I look up at his amazing features and smile. "Ni " he looks down. "Thank you" "for what" "everything" I smile and run his check with my hand. "For being such a great friend" he smiles and rubs my check. "Anything for you love" I hear him say before I drifted asleep.

I wake up the next morning with my alarm clock and I'm still on the couch. I feel someone over me. I'm still lying on Niall lap and he's hunched over to the side and the beginning of the movie where you press play is on. He must've fallen asleep during the movie. He looks so peaceful. I slowly and carefully get up and lay Niall down on the pillow and cover him up. I get up and get dressed. I wear a blue and white strip button blouse with blue dress slacks and blue heels. I grab my bag and take one more look at Niall and smile. I go to him kiss him on his temple and say "have a great day love" and leave.

While I'm in the car I think did I just kiss him yeah it was on the temple. What the hell am I thinking.

NIALLS POV

I wake up and notice I was sleeping on the couch. Mackenzie must've put the pillow and blanket on me before she left. I look at the time and it says 11 am. I have two hours before rehearsals. I get up make coffee out of her keurig and text Harry to come pick me up.

Harry comes a little while later and picks me up. "What's up man?" I shrug my shoulders. "Barbara back over waiting for you she seems pissed." Harry laughs. I roll my eyes and huff. "You need to do something about her Niall. Especially any chance of you getting with Mackenzie." I look at him and think.

I walk in and Barbara sitting on the couch making herself at home. "Nialler" I cringe just looking at her. "I've been waiting all fucking morning. What you with that blue headed bimbo" I nod. They boys all get up and leave. "We're leaving in 20 Ni" Liam Says. I nod to him. "What Barbara I have rehearsals and I need to get ready. " "well I get to stay another week but my hotel is all booked could I stay with you please I have no where else to go." Giving me a puppy dog face. "Fine" I muttered. "Well then I'm coming to rehearsals" as she brings her bags to my room.

I walk to my room and I see Harry look and me roll his eyes. "Pussy" he muttered. I'll show you pussy ass.

I get out my phone and text MACKENZIE.

MK: hey sorry to bother you I have s huge problem

NI<3: what did u do to my house I only left you alone for little lol

MK: Barbara

NI<3: ?

MK : let me stay at your place for the week she's staying with us I can't deal with her

NI<3: okay :)

Well that was settled. I grab my bag and start throwing a weeks worth of clothes in. I grab it and put it in the trunk of my car. "Where you going" Louis asks. "In staying with MK for the week while Barbara is here." "You leave us with the bitch" he laughs. "Come on Lou please maybe she'll get the hint and get another hotel." I plead. "Fine but you owe us"

"Great rehearsal lads" Liam yells out. I smile and run out. "What's the hurry mate" Harry asks. "Louis didn't tell you" I asked. "Yeah he did you owe us, but what's the hurry" he asks again. "I don't want Barbara to see me leave then she'll ask questions." I look at him. "Whatever call me tonight" he says and I thank him and run to my car.

I head to Mackenzie work to grab her house key. I go up to the front desk asking where her office is. They point me to the 4th floor. I get up there and theirs an office it says Community Hospitalists with the names of Dr. mike Hobart, Dr. Leslie Wilson, Dr. Amat Parmar, Mackenzie Collins, NP, Michelle Cray, NP, and Lola Brown, NP. I knock on the door and a guy answers it. "Can I help you" he asks. "Yeah mate just looking for Mackenzie" I say. He nods "she's in the children's blue wing floor 5." "Thanks" and I walk to the elevators.

I walk down the blue floor and I walk up to one of the nurses. I read her name tag. "Hey Emily I was here looking for Mackenzie Collins" I must've startled her cause she jumped. "Oh yes I can page her stay right here" and gets in her phone and pages Kenzie. "Mackenzie Collins 45623, Mackenzie Collins 45623." I hear over the PA system. "I'm right here, whose paging me" I hear her say looking out of an alcove. "It me" I smile. "Oh hey NI" she gets up and walks over to hug me. "Give me s minute and I'll grab my keys from the office." I sit next to her while she finished righting something in the chart.

Just then a little girl about 10 walked down the hall with an IV pole. "Hi Kenz, Hi guy oh my are are you Niall from One Direction" she says. I nod and I look over to Mackezie and she smiles. "Hi love what's your name" I asked. "Carly" she smiles. "Carly and I have known each other for about 8 months now right" Mackenzie says and Carly nods. "Would you like me to take a picture of you and Niall" she asks and Carly nods again. I get up and look into Mackenzie phone and she snaps a picture. "Thank you" she says and I give her s hug. "I'll print it out and give it to you tommrow" Mackenzie says. "Bye Niall it was nice meeting you" she says skipping away. "The pleasures all mine Carly" I look back over to Mackenzie and she's just shining.

We walked down to her office and she talks to me about Carly and how she's taken care of her on and off this year. We get to her office and she grabs the house key and gives to me. "I'll be home around 830-9 depending on when my group is over with." I smile and nod. "Thanks for letting me stay" I say. "Anytime" she smiles and I head out and to her condo. I have a week and a half left before tour and I get to spend it with her. What better way.
