"Come now daughter you must choose!"

"No I won't."

I stood there in the main hall of my clans temple. Before me stood different several males of different sizes, colors, and shapes. Then to my left sat my Father, in his throne. A dark green male that was missing his upper left mandible. Scars dotted his chest, more would be visible but those were covered by his ceremonial armor. His yellow sunken eyes bore deep into mine. "I'm tiring of this constant cycle!" He thundered as he stood up. I was tall that was to be sure, taller than all the other males in the room, but my father towered over me. "I offer you a fine selection of mates and you turn them down! You say 'No, I can find one on my own' and then run off on some sort of 'hunt' for some odd amount of months, come back empty handed! And I offer you more mates! Then you do the same thing over and over!" He bellowed, his voice shook the room.

"I did have a mate..." I snarled as I tried to hold back my emotions. However my father didn't like this answer. "Oh you mean the ooman that you kidnapped, and tried to bring home?! Oh wait remember what happened to him!?" He prodded with his scolding. Muffled thunder from outside was the only thing that broke the silence as I tried to keep myself together. "He was WEAK! That's why he died, besides oomans aren't suited to be mates for our kind. Even IF he killed a bad blood!" He continued. I couldn't keep my emotions any longer and a tear cascaded down my cheek. "Did you even lay with him?! Or did you have to force yourself on him?! If you can't even find yourself a mate or choose one then I'll just have to -!" "HENG'STAL!" My fathers rant was cut off by an old familiar voice.

Footsteps followed by a soft wooden object hitting the floor over and over entered the room. "Leave your eldest alone, son." Spoke an old male, my grandfather. His height was that of my fathers, but he'd be taller if he wasn't hunched over. A dark red color covered his body. He was missing his left forearm. This was the result of an ooman that caught him off guard, he's told me the story of this many times. His dreadlocks were long and had many decorations in them. Scars covered his face, one running over his eye. A long yellow coat bearing the clans symbol was draped over his body as he slowly walked into the room on his wooden cane. "No son of mine yells at their family like that unless with good reason.." He spoke as he walked past the male suitors that were lined up.

"Father I have plenty reason to yell at my daughter." My father spoke as he shifted his attention off of me for a second. Allowing me to wipe the tear off my cheek. "I don't care if you found your lost wife, I did not raise my son to be heartless and inconsiderate. When I raised your sister, I let her choose her mate on her own accord, and she was around Zan'tui's age when she found a mate." My grandfather was now lecturing my father. How the tables turn... "Now then, zan'tui, come walk with me." He said gesturing for me to come with his cane. My father stayed silent as he watched me walk off the raised platform we stood on. The older male began to exit the room with me closely following behind. As the giant metallic door behind us closed I heard the muffled roar of my father, telling the suitors to probably leave.. I walked with my grandfather where he lead me I didn't care, I was just happy he had come when he did. "Thank you grandfather.." I said as I looked to see that we were exiting the temple.

"Do not thank me child... I came because I wanted to talk with you about your mate.." He explained as he looked up at me then to his missing arm. "I want to know more of you're adventure to find him, and how you chose him specifically..." He spoke. We came to a set of stairs that lead down from the temple to the main portion of the village. "You want to know everything about Erwin?" I asked, not even Sai'jao asked about him so this was a first. The old male simply nodded as he started to slowly go down the steps. "Well, before I tell you of my ooman... Tell me about your arm once more, after all, that's why I went to search for my mate among the ooman population." I smiled to which he chuckled and nodded. "Very well child." He agreed taking a deep breath.
