Chapter 7                                                                                                                                     *Niall’s POV*

Eventually, we got tired of driving around, and ended up at Abby and Madi’s apartment. Apparently, they were roommates.

Did I mention that Abby was freaking adorable? She was the type of girl that, whenever she opens her mouth and says something; you just want to scream at the tops of your lungs how much you love her. She’s extremely intellectual, as well. Her little nerdy antics are just so cute! I felt like a little child that just got a new puppy. All I wanted to do was talk to her, spend as much time with her as I could, and keep her forever safe in my arms under sheets and blankets.

But not like that.

More in a way that, I just wanted to fall asleep with her and hold her close to me all through the night as she dreamed inside her own world. Keeping her safe from everything bad the world had to offer, and for a few hours, having the sense of security that she was mine. All mine, forever.

Or at least, as long as she’d have me. Which I was hoping was a pretty close number to forever, anyway.

Holding her hand shot a drug of pure warm and fussiness all over me. Cliché, I know, but it’s true.

We pulled up to the curb in front of Abby and Madi’s complex. It was a really nice red-bricked apartment, with a little balcony, big front steps, flowers bushes and little potted trees surrounding the walkway to the door.

“Hey,” Liam began to ask, looking into the rearview mirror at Abby. “You wouldn’t mind if I invited Zayn, Louis, and Harry over here, would you?”

Madison perked up. “Harry… Styles?”

Liam nodded. Madi’s eyes widened and she tried really hard to hold in a huge smile as she turned sharply in her seat to face me and Abby.

“Harry Styles is going to be breathing the same air as me in a matter of minutes.” She was clutching her seat so tight, that if she squeezed any tighter it just might have burst, sending its filling everywhere.

“Madi dear…” Abby stroked Madison’s hand calmingly and sarcastically. “Liam Payne and Niall Horan have been breathing your air for a couple of hours now.”

“Yes…” She was beginning to relax now. “But not Harry Styles. I love Harry Styles.”

“Yes, yes. I know Hun, but…”

Madi was out of the car before Abby could finish. “I’M GOING TO TAKE A SHOWER AND FIX MYSELF. TELL ME BEFORE HE GETS HERE!” She yelled over her shoulder as she fiddled with the door lock and ran inside.

“Should we go in too?” I smiled at Abby who was laughing.

“Of course! C’mon, I’ll show you around.” Abby unbuckled her seat belt with her free hand and attempted to get out of the car.

We had both forgotten that we were still holding hands. When she saw she wasn’t going very far, she turned around and followed her outstretched arm up to my face and giggled, making me laugh along with her.

God… SO freaking adorable…

I released her hand and jumped out of the car as I followed her up the stairs and through the open door into her apartment.

Her apartment smelt of warm crispy apple pie, and it kind of made my mouth water.

Their living room was lit with natural sunlight pouring through the windows and thin white curtains. The floors were a dark brown, but they were washed down and polished, which gave them a very antique-y feel. A brown leather couch and matching love seat sat on top of a cream colored posh rug in front of a TV, which was equipped with a Xbox 360 and two controllers.

“Madi never plays with me because she doesn’t understand how the buttons work, so when she attempts to play, she gets frustrated and throws the controller down.” Abby smiled and walked into the kitchen, setting her keys and phone on the granite counter top Island, which was surrounded by stools with different colored pillows on them.

“I really love your place! It’s so cozy and open!” Liam said, sitting on one of the couches and dialing his phone.

I smiled, it really was. I absolutely loved it. The kitchen was really cool too, because she had one of those big open flame stoves with the big vent on top of it, and there were black and white pictures on every wall. The floors in the kitchen were a yellowish cream colored tile.

I sat at the island watching Abby take ingredients for something out of the double door fridge.

She began to chop up some tomatoes and onions, as her hair fell over her right shoulder with the strands at the left tucked behind her ear. I sat smiling at her, unbelievingly unable to look away. Liam walked into the kitchen and sat down on a stool next to me, helping me away from my drug.

Looking at his phone, “Harry says he’s right up the block.” Liam said, looking up and smiling as Abby grated some cheese into a small bowl cryptically. She smiled behind her hair as the sound of running water traveled down the hallway. Madi must be taking her shower now.

“You know what would be really funny?” Abby said, putting the rest of the cheese back into the fridge and washing her hands in the deep chrome sink.

“What?” I smiled, my ears tingling to hear her cute voice again.

“What if we didn’t give Madi a heads up when Harry gets here? Then, say she walks out in her towel or something and sees him sitting in the living room…” She laughed at herself and her mischievous idea.

Liam and I smiled in unison as Abby pulled out taco mix and some chips from the huge pantry.

“Taco salad?” Liam asked while she mixed the meat and taco mix together on the stove.

“Oh, YES!” I pumped my fist when Abby smiled over her shoulder and nodded at Liam.

Suddenly we heard a car door open and shut outside in front of the building, and through the stained glass on the front door, I could see the curly mess of dark hair raising his hand to the glass to look inside the house. Abby smiled and turned the stove dial down before walking to the door and answering it.
