I find myself back in the park, on the path which winds around the lake. The tears on my face are still fresh, and only one thought echoes about in my head: I'll never see Xzander again.
Then I see him.
It's as if the universe knows what I'm thinking. He sits by the lake, the wind flowing through his black hair. He's sitting on a bench, which is where I look out from my favourite spot in the park.
I try to walk away before he sees me, but he turns around. His eyes widen a little. I must look a mess - my hair has fallen into straggly strips around my neck and my eyes are red from crying.
"Dyllon?" He says; I'm surprised he even recognises me.
"I'm sorry, I'll leave - " I start to day, but he interrupts.
"No, no it's fine," he says. Now I can see him properly, it looks like he's been crying too.
"Do you want to sit down?" He asks, and I nod miserably. He moves his jacket - he's still wearing his suit.
For a moment, we just stare out over the lake. It's beautiful - now reflecting the pink sky, but all I can think about is him next to me.
Finally, he asks me: "Are you okay?"
I nod, "Just my Dad."
"Me too,"
He says in response.
"Really?"
He sighs heavily. "Yeah. Probably not the same problem though." There is a moment of silence. We both seem to realise how intimate this moment is.
He clears his throat awkwardly. "So... are you going to accept the job?"
I sigh. "That's the problem. My dad won't let me."
He frowns. I watch his brow crinkle and resist the urge to squeal childishly. "Why?" He asks.
I open my mouth, then close it. I decide not to yell him that, for some reason, my dad hates his family. "Something about growing up too quickly."
He takes a seconds to think.
Then he says very quietly, "Ignore him."
"What?" I reply.
"Ignore him," Xzander repeats, louder this time. "Please. I know the job is perfect for you. And I'm so sick of seeing Tiffanie's moody face every single morning."
He draws out the last line dramatically and I smile.
"Do you really want me to do this?" I ask.
He looks straight at me. "Absolutely." He says sincerely. I look at his tear-stained face. No one has ever wanted me for anything before.
"Ok?" He says.
"Ok." I nod, and get up with a small smile on my face.————————————————————
