Layla's P.O.V.
I start to panic. I wasn't sure what to do. I tried to run to the closet, but I trip and I make a loud thump. I quickly get back up and limp to the closet.
Luke's P.O.V.
I was talking to the police officer.
"Do you know where Layla Phoenix is?"
"No, I thought she died?"
"Yes, but-" All of a sudden we hear a loud thump from upstairs. We all looked up at the ceiling where the loud thump came from. The cop glared at me and proceeded up the stairs. I gave Emily a worried glance and she did the same. He went into Layla's room, looking. He looked over at the closet and walked over to it."Is there anyone else staying in this house?"
"Yes, we have a friend staying over."
"Where are they at?"
"Well, she was supposed to be in hear, but she likes to scare us all the time. Scarlett, where are you?" I look in the closet and notice her peeking the the shirts in the closet. "Go with it." I mouthed to her so the cop wouldn't here me.
"RAAAH!" She jumped out of the closet scaring all three of us.
"You gotta stop doing that."
"But it's funny!" I think the police officer is buying it.
"Ms, have you seen Layla Phoenix at all."
"No, she's dead. It was all over the news."
"Have you not seen the most recent news update."
"All I know is that she died in a car crash and they think it's her father."
"Ok, well Luke, can I speak to you privately." I followed him downstairs. "Earlier, we saw you helping someone running from the hospital. We have a reason to believe that it was Layla Phoenix. Now, where is she?" He questioned me with a stern voice.
"I'm not sure that was her. I helped someone, yeah, but I was just trying to help someone out. They just asked me to bring them to some strange location, but I'm not sure where it was." He looked at me with a strange look.
"Well then, I'll be out of hair. Thank you for your cooperation." I followed him to the door and opened it for him.
"Hope you guys find what your looking for." And with that, he got in his car and left. I shut the door and exhaled. I'm glad he believed me. I went back upstairs and saw Layla hyperventilating. Emily was sitting to her trying to calm her down. I sat next to her and grabbed her shoulder so she can look at me. I looked her in the eyes and could tell she was scared. "Your going to be okay, he's gone. He can't hurt you. Your safe." She only calmed down the slightest bit. So I gave her a big hug. She sat there in my arms, all quiet. She eventually calmed down. "Your okay, nobodies going to hurt you. I won't let them." I notice that she calmed down by the way she's breathing. I look over to Emily and she has a small smile on her face.
"She fell asleep." Emily went out in the hallway. I lied her down on her bed, went out in the hallway, and closed the door to let her sleep. I checked my phone to see that it was 11:27. "What should we have for lunch? We should start making something now so when she wakes, she can eat something."
"Let's make some sandwiches since it's not that hard to make them. Then we could probably go to the store after she wakes up." We go downstairs and into the kitchen to make lunch. Me and Emily ate our sandwiches and put Layla's in fridge. I went upstairs to my room, which was right next to Layla's, and decided to watch some T.V. About and hour later, I heard her door open. I go out into the hallway and see Layla standing against her door. "Hey, you okay?" She looks at me with a tired look. She slowly rubs her eyes and makes her way to the top of the stairs. I go beside her and help down the stairs and to the kitchen table. I get her food out and she slowly starts eating. "We're going to the store later, okay?" She nods her head and keeps eating. I hear the stairs creak and see Emily at the coming down the stairs. She looks at Layla, who looks kind of gloomy.
"Is she okay?"
"Yeah, she's just tired. We're probably going to go to the store when she's done eating."
"Alright." She goes over to the doorway and starts putting her shoes on. Layla finishes her food and I take her plate for her. I help her to the couch to get her shoes on. We all get into the car and head to the store. We get everything we need and we get some more food as well. When we get back to the house, we sit in the living room and watch some T.V. show that's on. Some weird comedy. Then the screen flashes "Breaking News." We all glance at each other, then back to the screen. We all sigh of relief when it says something about a prison break. I turn the T.V. off before it could say anything about it.
"What's going to happen to me if they find out. I must have been dead for at least 10 minutes or more. I should be dead. I don't even know how it happened."
"Let's not think about it. For now, let's just be glad that they didn't find out."
"Yeah, I'm glad, too."
"Well, since people can't know about you, we have to come up with a name for you."
"Well, Scarlett would work since that's what we told the officer. And for the last name?"
"What about Hayes?"
"Yeah that would work. Scarlett Hayes."
"Alright then, if anyone asks, your name is Scarlett Hayes and your new in town. That's what we have to call you when were out in public as well." I look at the clock and it's about 6:00. I get up to start making dinner. After dinner we all watch a movie together. By the time it's over it's 10:39 and both Layla and Emily are asleep. I wake up Emily and tell her to good to bed. I pick up Layla and taker her up to her room. I close her door and go in my room and lay down on my bed. I close my eyes. I lay there for a bit before darkness consumes me and I fall asleep.
