Luke's P.O.V.
I open my eyes, still feeling tired. I push my self up off the bed, forgetting where I am. Then I remember what happened last night. The fire, running from police, running to this cabin. I slowly slide off the bed and walk to the door. I open it, silently creaking. I walk out into the hallway and towards the stairs. I look down over the rail to see Layla on the couch, sleeping, and Emily walking to the back hallway with paper towels. I walk down the stairs to see what she's doing. I walk towards the bathroom and see her cleaning something off the floor, which looks somewhat like blood.
"What are you doing?" She jumps, dropping the paper towels in her hand, quickly looking at me with wide eyes.
"YOU SCARED ME!" She quickly stands up, putting the paper towels down. I let out a slight chuckle. "Well, when I woke up this morning, I heard something down here, so I came down here. When I came down here, I heard Layla in here. I was about to walk in, but I saw something leaking out from the bathroom, which I thought was blood. I opened the door and saw her hanging onto the counter. She told me that she was trying to clean her room because she didn't want to wake me up and bother me, anyone. I also told her that you might be able to make us breakfast when you wake up."
"Alright, I can do that." I walk to the kitchen to let her do her thing. I look at Layla. She's still asleep. I open the cupboards to see what we have. We have some chocolate chip muffin mix. I take it out and get a muffin tin. I mix all the ingredients while the oven preheats. I put the muffin batter in the pan. I put the pan in the oven and set a timer. Emily comes out of the bathroom, smelling the air, which smelled of chocolate chip muffins.
"Mmmm, it smells good." She sits down at the island, patiently waiting. The timer goes off and I take the muffins out of the oven. The muffins are pretty big, and there are 6 of them.
"Hey, can you wake up Layla, please?" She gets off the seat she was in and walk into the living room. I hear quiet talking, followed by footsteps. I glance at the clock. 10:13. I carefully take the muffins out of the tin, set them on the counter, and get out 3 plates. Emily walks in, followed by Layla. Emily walks over, grabs 2 plates, and puts one on each. She gives one of the plates to Layla and sets the other one in front of her.
"Thank you! It smells good." I smile and nod my head. I grab the last plate and put a muffin on it, walking over to the table. Emily's sitting on the end with Layla sitting next to her. I sit next to Layla. She's only taking as if she's thinking about something. She looks a little sad. I look at Emily, she noticed it, too. She looked up at us, noticing us staring at her.
Layla's P.O.V.
They were staring at me, noticing my expression. "I'm just confused. Why do you guys keep helping me even though I caused you two a lot of trouble?"
"Layla..." I glanced at them again.
"I mean, you two have a choice of kicking me out right now, but you guys are still helping you. A-and you're probably g-going to get hurt keeping m-me around." I was trying my hardest not to cry. I close my eyes, letting the tears flow down my face. I cover my face with my hands. Next thing I know, my chair is being pulled backward, then Luke is in front of me. He wraps his arms around me, and so does Emily. I wrap my arms both of them and start crying even more. We just stay like this, the three of us. Then we all freeze with the sound of a knock on the door. I quickly make my way up the stairs.
"I know you're in there Luke."
??? P.O.V.
~The night before~
I was on the couch watching the news with Luke and Emily, There helping someone escape, even though she was supposed to be dead. I sigh, shaking my head. I stand up, attempting to look for my mother. I find her in her room on her computer. I lightly knock on the door. She glances at me and rubs her temples.
"What is it, Marcus?" She seems to be stressed by work.
"Your niece and nephew are on the news. Thought you would like to know." In a quick movement, she's walking to the living room, sitting on the recliner. We see them running from the police. It was showing what looks like a car cam from a police car. They're close to a train. Emily is already on the other side of the track. Luke is holding someone with dark hair. The train was getting close. Then Luke decided to run towards the moving train, jumping over the tracks, barely missing it. "Is he crazy?!" My mom turned off the T.V. and stood up.
"You know where they're going, right?" Now that I think about it, there was a forest that they were going to. Their parent's cabin.
"Yeah, are we going to find them?"
"Yes, but it will take us a while to get there. I still have to work, but you could go there now if you'd like And it's been years since you've seen your cousins."
~Present time~
"I know you're in there, Luke." Probably not something I should say when someone is hiding from the cops.
I stand outside the door, waiting for them to open it. I hear a few footsteps and hushed voices. Then I here a pair of footsteps stop in front of the door. I hear the door unlock and the door opens a tiny bit. It looks like Emily. I open the door and engulf her in a hug. She seems shocked then hugs back. I set her down and look around the room. Luke is standing behind Emily. I give him a quick hug. Then I notice something on the stairs. I look up and it looks like someone is huddled up in the corner of the rails. It looks as if they have black hair. That's probably the girl that 'came back from the dead'. Luke is looking at the stairs as well. He walks up the stairs, crouches down next to her, and starts whispering something to her. Then Luke stands back, and she slowly stands up, holding onto to railing. She has long black hair, but it looked like it was dyed, her eyes a dark shade of purple. She also has a bandage wrapped around her head.
"Layla, this is our cousin, Marcus."
1138 words. God this took forever to write, but I finally did it. Stupid writer's block. I am running out of chapter names, so bear with me, please. But enjoy the chapter.
