Secrets {a fanfiction of Eragon}

Chapter 3

        Half awake half asleep I rolled over and mumbled."Hey,Laura, I just had the craziest dream I was in Alagaësia and an egg chose me.Who's the lucky one now?" When Laura didn't answer I opened one eye only to close it again.Then I opened both eyes and what I saw was not Laura It was the dying fire. I moaned and sat up a blanket slid off me I didn't remember Brom giving me a blanket.Wait a second... I looked around.Where was Brom? I quickly got up "Brom?" I called he didn't answer."Brom!" I called louder still no answer. I was kinda getting scared.

         I stood up on my tip toes to try and get a better look. That didn't help at all. A hand touched my shoulder and I turned around and jumped back. "Come on time to get moving." Brom said calmly. "Where the hell did you go?! You almost gave me a heart attack!" I barked. Brom only picked up his things and started walking off. I sighed and kicked out the last flame and scurried to catch up with Brom. "Where are we going?" I asked. "Carvahall." Brom simply answered.

"How much longer till we get there?" I questioned.

"Today and half of tomorrow."Brom said and started walking faster."If we hurry then today and a slight bit of tomorrow."

      "Then we should walk faster.The sooner the better" I said as I started to walk faster than Brom.He flashed me a smile but it disappeared instantly and he started to pick up the pace. To beat him I started to slightly jog. I got ahead of Brom and smiled at him.He opened his mouth to say something then I ran into a tree. I fell right on my back. I looked at the sky dumbfounded I turned my head to look at Brom. He looked annoyed.I quickly got up and dusted leaves and pine needles from from my clothes. I started walking forward with my head held high.

             Brom started leading again. I looked up and saw that the light was fading fast. I looked around and saw a pretty big clearing."Brom we can camp over there."I suggested pointing to the clearing.Brom looked and nodded I rushed over to the clearing and looked around. There were dead sticks and branches everywhere! I started to pick of the sticks and branches in the clearing putting them into a big pile  Once the clearing was clean I sat down next to the pile and started to make a tepee.Once I made a tepee I looked around and started gathering rocks. I piled them high in my arms and wobbled over to the tepee. I carefully sat down and started placing the rocks in a ring around the fire. I put the last rock down and asked." Hey, Brom, um can you do the magic thing that started the fire?" I patiently waited for him to finish unpacking the things. Once he finished I backed away from the fire and watched as Brom prepared dinner I haven't eaten in a whole day! I hungrily looked at the pot that had the food he placed it above the fire carefully. Brom looked up at the stars I followed his gaze.The stars were so beautiful. 

          Without looking away Brom asked." Desiree, I want the truth. Do I die soon?" I continued to look up at the stars then I looked at Brom,who was staring at me.I sighed and murmured."yes." Brom sighed reached into his pocked and pulled out the glorious gold egg.I forgot about my dragon! How could I!? I'm going to be the worst dragon rider ever! I thought to myself "I want you to carry it for the rest of the trip its your dragon after all." Brom said and handed me the egg. I carefully took the egg and caressed it. I looked at Brom "Thank you."I whispered . He only nodded and reached over and pulled out two bowls and filled them both up with the stew. He handed me the bowl I took it, thanked him and devoured the stew. I set the bowl beside me and gently put the egg in front of me.I stood up and collected me and Broms empty bowl I listened for the sound of a stream.When I heard one I headed toward the sound.When I saw the stream I rushed toward it I squatted on the stream bank and started to clean both the bowls.It felt like someone or something was watching me I glanced around and all I saw were trees every were. I sighed finished cleaning the bowls and headed back to camp.It slowly came into view when I got there I put the bowls in Broms pack. I walked back to the fire sat down and picked up the egg and hugged it close. I was going to be a dragon rider! I thought to myself and smiled.

"You should get some rest Desiree we will be busy." Brom advised I nodded and curled up around the egg and closed my eyes.I could hear some shuffling but I started to get sleepy and ignored it.Right before I fell asleep a blanket was placed on me and fell into a deep sleep.
