Emmeline's POV.

The next morning I woke up and got dressed for the day. We had a few hours to kill before I would meet with Dustin and Steve, so we sat on Max's bed and she fixed her skateboard. I could hear Billy and his loud music. There was a knock on the front door, and she was forced to answer since Billy was 'busy' and their parents were gone. Not long after she came back into the room and I saw Lucas out her window. She closed her door before opening the window and getting on his bike.

"Meet us at the train tracks?" Lucas asks me and I nod.

"I was already going there. You going to help Dustin and Steve?" He nods and rides off with Max on the back of his bike and I jump out the window and shift in the woods. I run all the way to where I could smell and hear Steve and Dustin, and before they could see me, I shifted back.

"Emmy?" Dustin called our worriedly as I was struggling to put pants on.

"One second! Stay there!" I call back, managing to pull my pants on and put my shoes on. I had put my shirt on first after my bra and underwear.

"What were you doing there?" Steve asks curiously and I shrug.

"When I shift into a wolf, it tears my clothes so I need to be... undressed to be able to shift comfortably. I was getting dressed after running here."

"Oh..." Steve nods slightly before they continue to drop cubed meat on the tracks and I have to walk ahead of them as my wolf drools.

"Is this it Dustin?" I ask as I make it into the junkyard clearing. He nods.

"This'll do. This'll do just fine." Steve says, taking his sun glasses off dramatically before putting them back on. We get to work, putting the rest of the meat in a pile and pouring gas all around it as a trap.

"I ordered Medium rare!" I hear Lucas call. I turn to see him and Max.

"Who's that?" Steve asks, referring to Max as they make their way to us.

"That's Max Mayfield. Billy's stepsister and Lucas and Dustin's new friend." I inform him as I grab metal and begin to attach it to the bus as a safe house for us When night comes. Max and Steve help as Lucas and Dustin break off to talk about something. I ignore it and focus.

"Do you really think this is some... upside down monster?" Max asks.

"I've heard a lot of things, Max, and this seems real. I saw the skin Dart left in the cellar, and I... I've had dreams of a monster their describing. It has to be real. I mean, if that's strange, what am I?"

"A really cool girl who can shift into a wolf?" Max offers encouragingly.

"If that thing tries to hurt you or the boys... I will rip it to shreds." I say seriously, my eyes shifting to red from anger as I growl lowly.

She drops the conversation in favor of helping me and Steve make the bus safe for us against these... Demogorgon dogs. When night falls, fog rolls in as Lucas lays on the roof of the bus, looking around for any sign of Dart. I sniff the air, smelling him near, but I smell others too. I keep it to myself, thinking maybe it was something else. I stand by the door to the bus as Steve sits, flicking his lighter open and closed, and Dustin acts a little rude to Max. I shake my head at the boy but focus back outside as I see something out there. Lucas sees him too and Steve decides to expand the menu by going out there with his bat. He gave his lighter to the kids so they could light it up if he didn't make it back. I look and see other... demo-dogs and immediately shift, not caring about shredding my clothes as I run and protect Steve as best I can. I manage to kill a few of the things before Steve made it back to the bus. I stayed outside, killing any that got close to the bus. I didn't notice the one that got on the roof and almost harmed Max, but I watched as the remaining ones alive all ran off, being called away. When I feel it's safe, I allow the kids and Steve out of the bus, but I stay in my wolf form.

"Emmy? You're hurt!" Max yelps as she sees my blood stained fur.

"Why isn't she shifting back?" Lucas asks as he looks at me.

"Uh..." Steve clears his throat. "She tore up her clothes, so if she shifted back, she'd be completely naked. You okay though, Emmeline?"

I huff out a breath as response before letting Max close to check over my wounds. I lick a few of them and feel them starting to heal already so I nod to the forest before we left to try to find where the creatures went off to. Max walked beside me as Dustin and Lucas argued ahead of us with Steve leading the group. She held a hand to my oversized neck as she had a worried face on.

Before long we stop as the fighting increases and Steve and I hear groans and calls from the monsters. Steve gains the attention of the arguing preteens and we make our way to a cliff that overlooks the woods around the lab. The same lab I escaped a long time ago. The one El escaped from just last year. I let out a soft whimper as I hear the monsters inside it, even though we're a few miles away from it. Steve leads us down and over to it, worried that maybe Mike and Will were there, along with Will's mom and the Chief Of Police. I carry the three preteens on my back when we get closer, since Steve was the only one with a weapon, and I wanted to get them out of danger if anything happened. Just outside the gate leading to the lab, we meet up with Steve's girlfriend or whatever and Will's older brother. The two were shocked and scared when they saw me following Steve with the three kids on my back. Steve explained who and what I was before we tried to get the gate to work. I grunt, putting the kids down before jumping over the fence and running inside the yard towards the entrance of the lab. I find Mike holding an unconscious Will while a man carried a frantic and upset woman out of the building. I growled and snarled at the monsters that tried to come out of the doors. They cowered away before I saw a car approach, holding Nancy and Jonathan. Will, Mike and Will's mom got into their car as the chief took his car to the gate. I followed them as the chief picked up Steve, Lucas, Dustin and Max. We all went to the Byers and were luckily not followed. Any that tried to follow us, I killed before they could see where we were hiding. When I made it to the house after everyone, Steve had already explained who and what I was to Joyce and Jim, and Joyce was standing outside the house with clothes for me. I grabbed them in thanks and went to change before following her inside.
