Your heart pounds as you ride the elevator deeper down under the ground. Your father, Alexei, has asked you to gather some things for him off in a different part of the base. You always felt so uncomfortable going around the base, considering you are much younger than everyone else in the base. Plus always being eyed by the guards was always unsettling, but they still knew who you were.
The elevator doors slid open and you stepped out into the long dimly lit corridor. A small cart drove by taking two guards down the corridor, you nodded to them as they passed. They nodded back as the went off. You see those two guards driving around occasionally as they take their rounds along the base hallways.
You begin walking forward down the long hallway. Your footsteps echoing as you carry on with your hands in your pockets.
You joined your father here on base instead of staying back in Russia where you would had to stay back with your grandmother, who you weren't very fond of at the moment. It took a lot of time to convince your father, and your father to convince your leader to let you come along, after all, you are just a young teenager. So now you reside here in Hawkins, Indiana, of the United States. Deep in the underground, almost rarely seeing the outside world.
You let out a deep sigh as you come to the room at the end of the hallway. The steel door being guarded by two men. They look at you in the eye with a suspicious look.
"Alexei has sent me." You tell them, in Russian of course, considering that was your native language, and currently the only language you speak.
"And you are?" One guard asks you.
They must be new here, cause most guards know who you are.
"Dr. Alexei's child." You reply with a slightly annoyed tone.
They look at each other, there was a long pause before they responded, "I didn't know Alexei had a child." One said.
"Well he does, and it's me. Can you just let me through, okay?" You say as you fold your arms, "He really needs me to bring him stuff."
"What stuff?" They question you.
"I don't know. He just told me it'd be in that room, in a briefcase, with his name on it." You groan, "It's probably some sciencey thing."
They still look at you with much suspicion. You hated running into newbies cause it always led with you trying to explain to them but they never believing you and you'd always have to get your father to come and prove it to them.
You were ready to turn back and head to grab Alexei when you heat hurried footsteps coming the corridor from behind you. You spin around and there you see Alexei speed walking down the corridor in his long white lab coat.
Once he reached you he smiled and adjusted his glasses, "I assumed you ran into some trouble on your way here, (Y/N). Considering it took you awhile." Your father said to you, in Russian, your native language of course.
You nodded, "Ya, these two don't believe me."
"Ah yes, two newcomers." Alexei said with a grin, "Well, it's alright you two, I can for sure tell you this is my child." He told them as he placed a hand on your shoulder.
The two glanced at each other once before nodding, "Our bad, sir. We just wanted to be sure." One said as they both stepped to the side, letting you both in the room.
"It's alright, I understand." Alexei said before he quickly slipped into the room and within seconds came back out with the briefcase in his hands.
"Alright, (Y/N), let's head." Alexei said as he turned to you, smiled, and headed back down the corridor.
You nodded and spun around to follow after him.
"Why can't you just tell everyone about me or something when they arrive." You say to him with a scoff.
He slightly laughed, "Well even I don't know everyone here and when they arrive and who's new."
You smile, "I know I know. It just kinda gets tiring after awhile." You chuckle slightly, "What are you guys even working on?" You ask him.
You have always wondered what they were always working on and what kept your father so busy all the time. He never really told you and you never really bothered to ask.
He looked at you and slightly hesitated, "Um, well, it's kinda complicated."
You stopped walking and looked up at him, "You don't wanna tell me, do you?"
He slightly shrugged, "Well..."
"It's fine, I don't need to know, I guess." You shoot him a very slight and short grin before continuing on.
"No no, (Y/N)," Alexei calls out as he stops you by grabbing you by the shoulder, "It's just... I don't wanna spook you."
You raise an eyebrow at him, "Spook me? What is it? Is it something scary? Dangerous?"
He bobs his head to the side, "Ya sorta."
You nod slowly, "That's what I thought."
"Oh? Really?" Alexei asks as you both continue on again.
"Well ya. What else would you guys be keeping so secretive and hidden from the rest of the world if it wasn't so terrible and dangerous." You respond as you dramatically flail your arms around.
Alexei slightly smiles down at you, "I guess you're right."
You both let out a laugh before continuing on and going your separate ways. Your father returns to the lab and you continue on to explore the base, even if you almost had the entire thing down and memorized, who knows what could be hiding in the smallest of places...
More to come...
