"Harry, would you like to watch a movie tonight?" Sirius asked. He was feeling quite bored and thought that enjoying a movie with his little family might help to spice things up. Harry's face immediately lit up.
"Movie? Yes, please!" Harry exclaimed. He didn't watch movies often and he didn't always get to watch them with Remus and Sirius.
"How about we make some popcorn and get some treats to enjoy with it," Remus said from the other room.
"Remus, are you eavesdropping?" Sirius asked. Harry and Sirius listened. Silence.
"No," Remus said a moment later.
"He's totally eavesdropping," Sirius whispered to Harry who giggled.
"No, I'm not!" Remus yelled back. Sirius and Harry both snorted at this.
"What movie are we going to watch?" Harry asked.
"Oh, how about a movie about the noseless guy who has an unhealthy obsession with this white kid who is told he is special and so he goes to a private school?" Sirius asked. Harry wrinkled his nose and shook his head. Sirius shrugged.
"How about Dumbo? That's a cute movie," Remus suggested as he walked into the living room. Harry thought about it. What was a dumbo? Was it like a dumb person?
"What's that?" Harry asked.
"It's about a little baby elephant who has these huge ears and he loses his mother at a young age but then later it turns out this elephant can fly," Remus explained. Harry shrugged.
"Sure," he said. It sounded kind of cute and reminded him of himself with the no mother and the finding out about special powers. Remus smiled.
"Guess we know who he likes more," Remus said. Sirius rolled his eyes.
"I can make the popcorn," Sirius said as he stomped out of the room.
"Did I hurt his feelings?" Harry asked worriedly. Remus shook his head as he pulled out the movie and started it up on the tv. The smell of buttery popcorn wafted over into the living room. Harry inhaled deeply and sighed. It smelled like heaven. Sirius came back into the room with three large bowls of popcorn. Harry gladly took his bowl and sat down on the couch. Sirius then handed him a package of candy.
"Who's your favorite godfather now?" Sirius asked. Harry giggled but gave no answer. Sirius pouted and sat down next to Harry. Harry hugged him.
"You are both my favorite," Harry said as he hugged Sirius tightly. Sirius smiled and hugged him back.
"I know, pup," Sirius whispered gently. Harry smiled. Remus pushed the play button and the movie started. He then sat down on the other side of Harry.
"Hey, where's my candy?" Remus asked. Sirius pulled out his own package of candy and slowly began to eat each piece, savoring each bite.
"Oh, you are cruel," Remus said. Sirius smiled and waved his wand. A package of candy zoomed in from the kitchen and smacked Remus in the face. Harry and Sirius roared with laughter as Remus turned pink but then quickly began joining in too. The movie started. Harry quickly got bored. All that was happening was the words were appearing on the screen and people were singing. He sighed, when did the elephant appear? He was not disappointed as the movie actually began. He felt so bad for the little elephant as the bigger ones began to criticize it. It reminded him very much of himself and his own life. Harry felt tears drip down his face.
"What's wrong, Harry?" Remus asked as he glanced over at his godson. Harry sniffled.
"It's not fair. The elephant is being made fun of because of something he can't help," Harry cried. Remus nodded and hugged Harry who was now sobbing hysterically.
"This is why it's important to stand up for those who can't stand up for themselves and to befriend those who are different," Sirius explained. Harry nodded and wiped his face clumsily of any tears. He turned his attention back to the tv. He vowed to himself that no one under his watch would ever be treated like this elephant.
