(y/n)'s POV
I waved goodbye as I slung my heavy backpack onto my shoulders and headed out the door on the short walk to my house, which was not yet a pleasant sight for sore eyes. The lawn was pretty dead, and my mom was planning to plant flowers but she hadn't gotten around to it yet. Nonetheless, it was starting to actually feel like home.
It was around 10am and I was pretty tired from not sleeping particularly well last night.
I was very strongly considering passing out on my bed instead of doing what I was supposed to be doing, which was finishing up decorating and organizing my things, as well as putting things away in their proper places.
I wanted my life to finally have a nice aesthetic as I came here, and so help me I was gonna have it.
But right now, I was really liked the idea of falling asleep and not waking up until dinner, eating, and then passing out again directly afterward.
I opened the front door, blinking away the exhaustion that pulled at my eyelids. My mother glanced up at me, flashing a quick smile before turning her attention back down to her book. It must've been good, since normally she at least said something to greet me.
I dragged my feet inside and up the stairs as well I drudged up to my room. I looked around for a solid minute, just standing in the doorway and being tired as fuck. I then flung my backpack onto the ground to the side and flopped onto my bed, immediately going out like a light.
Cady's POV
I looked up from gathering my things from the ground, seeing Janis towering above me before sitting down criss-cross applesauce next to me.
"Are you and (y/n) a thing?" She asked, making my heart skip a beat. Of course we weren't a thing! Janis liked her, and Aaron and I were happy and almost-kinda-sorta dating? And sure, she was smart despite admittedly sucking at math, and really pretty, and she had a good sense of humor, but I wasn't interested in her like that.
"No, you know that! Aaron and I are a thing, and plus you and (y/n) would be really cute together! Why would you think that?" I forced a laugh, folding yesterday's jeans neatly and putting them into my backpack.
"You and her were a bit more buddy-buddy this morning than normal, I didn't wanna jump to conclusions but it seemed less-platonic than I expected for how into Aaron you are." She explained slowly. Could she have been... jealous?
"Yep, super into Aaron and you know it! Anyway, the Mathletes assigned weekend homework so I should go and get that done. We're binging YouTube for next weekend's sleepover, right?" I rushed my speech as I hurriedly packed the last item into my backpack. I stood up and she followed suit.
"Cool, you have a ride, right? I could drive you home while I'm on my way if you don't have anyone." She offered, slinging her backpack onto her shoulders. I shot her a grateful smile and nodded.
"That would be nice, I was just gonna walk home since I don't live that far anyway, but that would be cool of you." I answered. She nodded, digging her keys out of her jacket pocket to start her car when we got out. We waved goodbye to Damien as we pummeled our way down the stairs and headed out the door to go home.
Damien's POV
I gave Caddy and Bestie-Supreme a big ol' smile as they headed out, and turned my attention to the TV, playing some dental commercial I didn't care about. My mind instead wandered to the drama of the morning.
It was clear that Janis liked (y/n), that was old news at this point. But the drama laid in Cady's crush. It was clearly implied that she had a crush that she figured was passing, which was strange since she and Aaron were basically together. And she glanced at (y/n).
Did my friend group have a love triangle on our hands?
It didn't make sense, last night she was happy for the budding relationship between Janis and (y/n). Unless she was hiding her jealousy, or maybe she fell for her later in the night or in the morning. Or maybe she didn't like her and this was a coincidence, but I sorta doubted that.
I was curious to see where this would lead, definitely, but also sad for the two. What if their friendship got torn apart over a girl?
What if both of them got rejected and (y/n) liked somebody else, or nobody at all?
I didn't want to take care of not one, but two broken hearts. I seriously hoped that if Cady liked her, that it was a passing crush that would be gone in a week or two.
The four of us, our little mini friend group, was precious and we had a good dynamic that I didn't want to get messed up by romantic drama. Sure, I did love drama, but not when it caused my friends to be hurt. I liked watching from the sidelines and making fun of it, not being in the middle of some love triangle type of mess.
