- (y/n)'s pov -

Taking the knight in your petite fingers, you softly knocked over the Earl's king.

"Wha- How?!" Ciel said in shock, looking to the board and up to you. I gave a soft giggle in response, hovering my hand over my mouth trying to hide my amusement towards his frustration.

The door quietly creaked open, showing Sebastian bringing the tea Ciel had requested- no, demanded to have. He arranged the tea for both of you and glanced at the chess board.

"Why, no one has ever beaten the master before." The butler commented, getting a rise out of Ciel. As expected, Ciel's expression quickly changed to fit in the categories of upset and surprised. "How?" He questioned once more.

"I suppose it was just luck." She dusted off, turning the other way.

"It doesn't seem as such." You quickly turned your head back to the butler. "This set up of the pieces is clearly strategic." Pointing toward all your pieces. "Right.." I uncomfortably laughed off, looking down at my hands.

Taking the tea cup into his hands, Ciel took a sip, then carefully set it back down. "We shall play another round."

After a few more games, Ciel became tired at losing chess to a girl who said her wins were "pure luck". I followed Ciel as he walked out of the room for dinner, hoping he would lead her to the dining room. Making it down a few stairs, he turned at gave you his arm, knowing that stairs were not an easy task while being injured. I smiled taking his arm, leading to dinner.

Dinner was quiet; not much was said. I had thought it may have just been the Earl being uneasy eating with another person for his lack of communication. You took note of how the mansion was making your way around, realizing that no one stayed here other than the Earl himself and his servants. So then why was he so quiet?  you took a second before internally thinking again. Oh no. I must have done something. Was I too suspicious winning the games? Or did I upset him over a different matter? Countless scenarios ran through your head, blaming yourself for the Earl's silence. Scrunching the fabric of the dress in your lap, you looked down anxious. Something snapped you out of your mind as you looked up.

It was the one and only Earl himself, looking straight at you. "Is something the matter?" He asked, his expression unreadable.

"N-No! I'm fine! Perfectly fine!" I said, my heart pounding a hundred miles a minute. Why am I so nervous? If he finds out it's not like he'll actually take me in. If anything, he'll kill me and the nightmare I call my life will be over

She looked up seeing the Phantomhive leave the room. A soft "if you need me, I'll be in my study" came from his direction. She waited until she was left alone in the dining room, and left for her room.

My eyes fluttered open as the morning light broke through. Swinging my legs to the side of my bed, I stood up, walking to the window. Looking down, she saw a blonde boy in the garden. It must be one of Ciel's servants. I should probably try to meet them I thought, walking away to brush my hair out.

Days have gone past since she arrived at the estate, but to her it didn't feel as such. All she had done was wander around the huge mansion trying to find her way around.

But for some odd reason, Ciel kept on wanting you to play games. At first it was just him, but then it turned into Sebastian playing against me, which in turn seemed harder than expected.
