"This isn't how you flirt you know?" I smiled, his hand around my throat, my heart in my stomach.

      "You're rather intriguing."

Swallowing, my throat clenching and mouth dry. "Now that's not true, I'm not that interesting,"

"Funny." A smile flickering on his lips, his gaze unwavering, "Uninteresting people generally don't have to say that." I had to get out, away from him- right now. He leaned closer, his fingers tightening, barely letting me breath, "What are you trying so hard to hide?" He murmured while I continued to smile.

This was not what I thought would happen. He was timid about his approach to questions, after the first that is, so I had to go and assume he was harmless like a fool. He was not harmless. He thought me a threat and that made him one. His grip tightening again, actually cutting off my airflow before releasing me and walking away.

Rubbing my throat I watched him leave with a cold stare. I couldn't do anything to him. He wasn't of the seven kingdoms, had no family, his income was above average, his connections as good as mine, and he was stronger than me. I couldn't leash him. Frowning, the idea of that dog running around free unpleasant, I pushed off the tree I had been held against.

... How long was this field trip supposed to be? And why was he even here? He didn't belong here and I doubt his king would send him for any reason. He was the backbone of the eighth kingdom's power. Without him, they would crumble. Tsking I took a deep breath, smile, smiling always works, and watch your steps, he's a ticking time bomb.

Abominations and failures are easily found with their hair a snow white. Before their merging their personalities are everchanging, looking for the one that suits them best, the one others prefer on them. Those that risk the possibility of becoming one are born emotionally distant. This also means, when they find something they care for, they cling to it desperately, be it a hobby, object or even a person.

Failures are often suspicious of their own, violence common, their entire being questioning the other's dominance. It is best to avoid displays of dominance between them. True abominations unfazed when the failures start a fight. They typically don't respond, avoiding confrontation, the risk of tarnishing their preferred personality keeping them from partaking in dominance displays.

Despite their practically none existent tempers, when angered, they are known to use metal warfare. Those pushed to violence go beyond simply displaying their power, beating others half to death when they were lucky. They dislike being deceived or misinformed, their distaste for direct violence swaying when lied too.

They don't care for direct violence, not ones to dirty their hands, but are often found at the root of the failure's violence, encouraging or promoting it. They favor the failures but have no qualms with manipulating other species, intelligent or not.

It's best to avoid deals and decisions suggested by them, it seems they benefit the abominations nine out of ten times. Failures aren't nearly as manipulative but they make up for it with their controlling nature. Strong emotions, positive or negative, often shift into obsessions.

Their short tempers making their possessiveness all the more aggressive, jealousy easily stuck and the need to be with whatever their obsession is strong. Abominations willingly become said obsession, using the failures to do their bidding, they happily do whatever their abomination wants, blinded by their twisted form of love.

I wasn't quite willing to become an obsession, one stalker enough, and it seemed I needed to prevent that if that was the case. Strong emotions, positive or negative. I needed to fall into neither. An afterthought if you will. Had I been aware of such things before I wouldn't have gained his attention.

But my curiosity had gotten the better of me. We weren't even the same things either, making the interest now useless. He was a failure, only about to merge with spirits, I was an abomination, able to merge with anything dwelling in the spirit realm.

From the way it was written, both were no more than experiments. Experiments that were no longer held. Which had me wondering a few things. Why were they performed in the first place? Why did they stop? What was found in them?

And why was I one if they stopped?
