Jungkook's knuckles pulsed, but whether from pain or adrenaline was anyone's guess. Taehyung stumbled backward, eyes and mouth wide with a mixture of shock and disbelief. His lips moved, and Jungkook could vaguely read a dramatic, "What the fuck?"
"Don't talk when I can't hear you," he hissed.
Taehyung blinked at him, working his jaw left and right. At least it wasn't broken, but Jungkook couldn't tell if he was relieved or irritated at that fact.
"Hello to you, too," Taehyung signed, wagging his head.
"The fuck is so funny?" Jungkook snapped when he realized Taehyung's shoulders were shaking because he was laughing.
"You just punched me," Taehyung explained, still bent over with laughter. "I can't believe you just punched me, Kookie."
"Don't call me that," Jungkook snarled. "Don't you fucking call me that."
As quickly as he started, Taehyung stopped laughing, body tense as he cocked his head. "What's -"
"Don't you dare ask me what's wrong," Jungkook shouted, satisfied when his apparent volume earned a flinch. "Where the hell were you?"
Taehyung paused, searching his face. "Here."
"Why?"
"Did you forget how to sign?" Taehyung reprimanded, eyebrow lifted.
Jungkook considered punching him again. On the one hand, he'd probably break his fingers at this point. On the other, Taehyung was a dick.
"You don't get to scold me anymore," he snapped.
The gravity of their current situation seemed to blast into Taehyung harder than any attack Jungkook could have tried. Stumbling back a step, the elder ran a hand through his hair before signing, "I was protecting you."
"Protecting me?" Jungkook parroted with a scoff. "How'd that work out, Mr. Hero?"
Another smile, but grim. "Not very well, apparently. Did you seriously just come down here to hit me?"
