I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,

And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;

And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,

And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking.

- John Masefield, "Sea Fever"

The navy-blue wetsuit had accumulated months' worth of dust over the seasons. Jungkook wiped a delicate finger over the material, musing on its pitiful state. He once spent hours making sure his gear was in perfect condition, and the aftermath of neglecting that regimen was harrowing. Wrinkles from time spent haphazardly folded clung to the fabric with stubborn resolve as he pushed himself up and held the suit out in front of him. A few good shakes made most of the dust rain off like ugly glitter, but the material underneath the film was still a dull memory of its past glory.

Even though the temperature had risen significantly as March prepared to become April, the waves off the coast were still too swollen to brave in a little sailboat like the Chansook's Cat. But it wasn't like he could take the boat out, anyway - without someone to man it as he dove, the daysailer would surely float away. The anchor's rope wasn't long enough to sink all the way to the seabed. Besides, even if he brought someone, Jin wouldn't allow him to dive alone, and that was exactly what Jungkook needed to do.

So, he'd have to brave the undertow lurking off the shore. He'd never tried to walk into the ocean, but he would have to if he wanted to find some sort of resolution with himself.

As much as he had missed Taehyung, his sadness had turned so fully into anger that not a fiber of his being wanted to return to the sea for the siren. It'd be better if he didn't see the elder at all, to be perfectly honest, and he probably wouldn't. The ocean was a vast abode - surely Taehyung had moved on to some other place, right?

Jungkook heaved a sigh, hugging the wetsuit to his chest. The slick material was cool against his bare arms, and it almost felt like the suit was embracing him as well. A glance at the clock on his desk revealed that dusk would soon appear, and indeed the sun was busy painting the western sky with hues of pink and red. That was a good thing, he reasoned. It meant poor weather was on its way out, not on its way in.
