NO CHARACTER POV:

Quick note: Jessica and Lambert are the same person, but each with different personalities. So, Jessica Lambert has dissociative identity disorder.

It was late at night when Jessica Lambert went on an errand on Captain Francis' temporarily empty ship.

The Captain's dame, Lady Sandra Cobely, ordered her to check if her precious gems were loaded.

Which was weird since Lady Cobely's gems are the last to be loaded onto the ship. Not to mention that the lady always held the invaluable box close to her chest with a tight grip.

But the Lady ordered her, and she can't refuse despite that not being her job.

She is supposed to be sitting high up on the ship, always scouting the ocean for any ships and continuously regarding the sky and noting down any changes in the wind that might indicate the approach of a storm.

(With the addition of murdering some guys. But only if necessary.)

That is supposed to be her job- well, was supposed to be, since she now has the right to fuck off from this ship forever.

Her 10 year contract with Captain Douche was officially over yesterday.

No more: "Lambert! Check what my sweetheart wants!" Or "Lambert! My honey Sandra can't fit in this dress! Go help her!"

Or the occasional special: "Jessica, I know that I may be harsh on you, but I do love you like a daughter. So, as your pseudo father, go help my wife or I swear I'll throw you off of this ship!"

It's like Francis Cobely believes that, since Jessica's a female, she'll be knowledgeable about everything his precious dame needs and wants.

Sorry to disappoint but Lady Cobely is a lady, while 'Bloody' Lambert is a hard working 19 year old that has calloused hands and feet and a scarred body.

Hell! She's nicknamed Bloody for a reason!

She doesn't understand girly!

She understands fist fights and sword fights and gun fights and just fights!

But Francis and Sandra didn't get the memo.

'Pseudo father' he said.

Pft. If Francis was her father then she's four years older than her 'mother'.

Anyways, the gems. No need to keep the lady waiting any longer. She'll do this as a goodbye gift to Sandra.

Walking with a lantern that partially ignites the wooden floor in a dark and silent ship might scare the bejesus out of anyone; however, Lambert is not anyone, so she isn't giving a fuck about how creepy it is.

She spent way too many nights up Savior Mary basking in somewhat eerie silence.

So no big deal.

Lambert walked into the captain's room where Lady Cobely said the gems were. Specifically, in the captain's lower left drawer. That was apparently unlocked.
