"It's stopped snowing." Susan said. It was by now mid afternoon and all the children could see was white. The snow was at least ankle deep by now and covered everything in sight.
Peter nodded. "I suppose we should carry on?" He said warily.
"That might be a problem." Lucy said suddenly.
"Why?" Susan asked.
Lucy smiled slightly. "Edmund's fallen asleep." She said, pointing at her brother.
Peter looked down, and sure enough Edmund was fast asleep, curled up in his arms.
"Oh." Susan said.
Peter smiled. "It's alright. I can carry him til he wakes." He said.
"Are you sure Pete?" Susan asked.
Peter nodded. "Yeah." Was his reply as he slowly lifted Edmund off the floor. But the second he did Edmund's eyes sapped open and he gasped loudly. Peter quickly put him down again as he saw the look of fear of his brothers face.
Edmund stared at his siblings for a moment before calming down slightly, letting out a breath he didn't even realise he'd been holding.
"You alright?" Lucy asked.
Edmund slowly nodded. "Yeah." He choked.
Peter was sightly relieved at this, Edmund had hardly said a thing since they left Cair Paravel and that had had Peter worried.
"We were going to carry on." Susan said. "If that's aright with you?" She added quickly.
Edmund nodded. "The sooner we get rid of her the better." He mumbled.
Peter nodded slowly before helping him to his feet. They walked to where the snow started (Just outside the leaves of the tree) and here is where Edmund stopped.
"Ed?" Susan asked warily.
Edmund took a deep breath before taking a step forward into the snow. It crunched under his feet, instantly soaking his shoes, and Peter saw him cringe.
He glanced worriedly at Susan, who was looking back at him with that same expression.
But Edmund continued through the snow, even though he flinched at every step he took.
Peter very soon got over protective and wrapped an arm tightly around his shoulders.
Edmund was rather glad about this and clung to Peter, buring his face into his side to block out the sight of the snow. Peter held him tightly as he led him through the woods, Susan and Lucy following slowly behind.
They continued like this for what felt like forever, until Peter could tell that Edmund was trying not to start shivering, but he wasn't doing a very good job.
Edmund pulled his coat around him as he continued through the snow. He still had his arms around Peter but his face was not buried into his side, and he was staring out at the snow.
Peter could tell by the look in his eyes that he was scared. Scared of the snow, scared that they might run into Jadis, and scared that if they do she might take him... and hurt him.
Peter tightened his grip around Edmund's shoulders and Edmund looked slowly up at him. Peter gave him a reassuring smile and a small nod as Edmund nodded back.
"How far north was Jadis when she was last seen?" Lucy asked after a while as she kicked the snow under her feet.
"About twenty miles away or something like that." Susan replied. "If we keep walking, and quicken up the pace as we go along we should find her eventually."
Lucy nodded, not being able to help glancing at Edmund.
"We'll find her." Peter said. "And when we do, we kill her."

Meanwhile Jadis was walking at rather a quick pace and the hag had to run to keep up with her.
All the while Jadis kept yelling at her to walk faster, so the hag panted along behind as quickly as she could.
"Come on!" The witch shouted. "We've only got one week to get the boy, get him to the stone table and then kill him. One week!" She repeated, raising her voice.
The hag rolled her eyes but said nothing.
"We're about five hours from Cair Paravel." Jadis said after a while. "But whether we'll be able to kidnapp him day is another matter."
The hag nodded, agreeing with the witch immediately.
"We'll do it tonight actually." The witch decided, gripping her wand tightly in her hand.
"Tonight your majesty?" The hag asked.
The witch nodded. "By the time we get to Cair it's going to be nearly midnight, it's what six o'clock now?"
"Around that time." The hag muttered.
The witch nodded. "Perfect." She smirked. "And no one will even know that we're in the castle." She added after a moment.
"So tonight?" The hag said.
The witch nodded. "Tonight." She said before smirking evily. "I've missed him."

"Lucy I swear if you throw one more snowball at me I'll dump an armful on your head!" Susan shouted playfully as she turned to her little sister.
Lucy squealed and ran ahead, giggling.
Peter laughed and even Edmund couldn't help smiling a little.
Susan grinned at Lucy as she turned back around to face them, another snowball in he hand.
"Don't you dare!" Susan said firmly, but she was smiling.
Lucy shrugged and dropped the snowball, smirking at her sister. "You're no fun." She said, before sticking out her tongue and waking ahead of the others again.
Peter still had his arms around Edmund's shoulders, trying his best to keep him walm. But Edmund just kept shivering, his teeth chattering as he walked beside Peter.
Susan gave a little laugh before putting her fingers to her lips, telling Peter and Edmund to be quiet.
She then picked up some snow, rolled it into a ball and threw it at Lucy. It hit her on the back of the head as she gasped in shock.
Susan doubled over laughing as Peter gave a chuckle. Edmund smiled at them, almost laughing at the look on Lucy's face.
Lucy, without looking back at them, bent down and grabbed some snow, making a snow ball.
But as she straightened up again she froze, the snow ball dropping to the floor.
Peter frowned, Susan frowned and Edmund froze.
"Lucy come here!" He said quickly, seeing what was coming twords them.
Lucy didn't hesitate for a second, she ran behind Susan as fast as she could.
Peter looked ahead of them, and as soon as he saw what was coming twords them, he drew his sword and pushed Edmund behind him.
Edmund clung to him, trembling as a look of fear appeared on his face. He stared as the Witch stopped a few feet away from them, and couldn't look away as she looked him straight in the eye.
