Peter immediately felt Edmund stiffen beside him as Jadis stopped in front of the four, her hag a few steps behind her.
Peter took a deep breath, giving Edmund's shoulder a reassuring squeeze before talking. "Why are you here Jadis?" He asked, trying not to sound as worried as he felt.
Jadis sneered. "I've come to claim what's rightfully mine." She snapped. "Again."
Peter swallowed thickly. "And what may that be?" He asked, though he was pretty sure he already knew the answer.
Jadis smirked. "Not what" She said. "But who. Edmund."
Edmund let out a small choking noise from beside Peter, luckily going unheard by the witch, and gripped Peter's shoulder tightly.
"Well, you're wasting your time Jadis." Peter said firmly. "Because you're not getting him!"
"Yes I am." Jadis snapped. "Have you forgotten that every traitor belongs to me? That his blood is my property?!"
Peter glared at Jadis. "Aslan paid for what Edmund did. He died so Edmund didn't have to." He said, feeling Edmund start trembling beside him.
"But he came back to life though didn't he?" Jadis said, a smirk on her face. "And him dying still doesn't change the fact that all traitors belong to me!"
"Aslan broke the deep magic when he came back to life!" Peter said, raising his voice. "So no, traitors do not belong to you anymore!"
Jadis glared at him. "I want you to hand me your brother, and no one will get hurt." She said slowly, trying to stay calm.
"I don't care what happens to me Jadis." Peter said darkly. "You are not having my brother!"
Jadis just laughed. "Why would you want him anyway?" She said. "He almost got you all killed. He betrayed you."
Edmund swallowed thickly, squeezing his eyes shut as a guilty look made its way onto his face.
"Shut up Jadis!" Peter shouted. "That won't work!"
Jadis slowly looked to Susan and Lucy.
"And it won't work on them either!" Peter said quickly. "Because we know it was all your fault! All because you gave him enchanted sweets and made false promises."
Jadis smirked. "Even after that, though there was still some way he could've resisted."
Peter glared at her. "You have no idea what he was going through back in England - back home - of course he was going to give in."
Jadis smirked again. "And what, may I ask, was he going through?"
There was silence, in which the only noise was Edmund's heavy breathing.
Peter swallowed thickly. "Our dad." He said slowly. "Went away to war, we didn't know if he'd come back. We were sent away from home to the country." He said.
Jadis smiled evily. "And why is it Peter, that he came to hate you?"
Now it was Peter's turn to look guilty.
"Because you acted like you were dad, didn't you?" Jadis laughed.
"I never hated Peter!" Came Edmund's voice. He was glaring at Jadis, hand gripping tightly onto Peter's shoulder.
Jadis smirked at him. "Stay out of this Edmund." She said in a sickly sweet voice.
Edmund remained silent, too scared to say anything else.
Jadis smiled sweetly at him before turning back to Peter. "How many more times am I gonna have to ask before you hand me Edmund?" She asked in a tired voice.
"Endless amount of times." Peter spat.
Jadis raised an eyebrow. "Have it your way then." She said as she smirked.
The hag all of a sudden stepped forward, her hand held out in front of her.
Peter frowned, his heart skipping a beat.
Jadis nodded slowly at the hag, her eyes glued on Peter. "Say goodbye to Edmund, cause you'll never see him again."
The hag laughed before she clicked her fingers.
As soon as she did, everyone in the throne room dropped down as if they'd fallen asleep. Everyone that is, except for Jadis, the hag, and Edmund.
"Peter?" Edmund asked, voice shaking as he shook his brother. "Susan, Lucy?" He asked, panicking.
Jadis smirked. "They won't wake." She laughed. "Well, they will in a few hours. Which gives us enough time to get a long enough headstart." She said the last line darkly, glaring at Edmund.
"Peter!" Edmund shouted as he shook his brother. "Please wake up!" He said, but Peter did nothing, and neither did Susan or Lucy.
Edmund's head snapped up when he heard Jadis step twords him. His eyes went wide as she began walking twords him. "Peter please!" Edmund shouted.
He swallowed thickly, going to draw his sword, but with a sinking heart, realising he didn't have it with him.
He watched as Jadis came closer. And then he had an idea, he reached over to Peter and drew his sword instead, holding it out in front of him.
Jadis laughed. "That won't stop me Edmund." She said, nodding at her hag, who once again clicked her fingers.
As soon as she did, Peter's sword flew from Edmund's hand, and hit the floor over the other side of the room.
Edmund's eyes went wide as he backed away. But Jadis made a run at him and grabbed him tightly around the arms.
"No!" Edmund screamed.
Jadis quickly placed a dagger to Edmund's neck, where she got it from though, he didn't know.
"I'm warning you Edmund." She whispered into his ear. "If you do anything stupid, I won't hesitate to hurt you."
Edmund swallowed thickly. "Peter." He tried again, but Peter didn't wake.
"I told you Edmund, they won't wake for another few hours." Jadis said.
Edmund thought for a moment, another few hours?
"And everyone in the castle is asleep, so there'll be no difficulty in getting out of here."
Edmund swallowed thickly, he had an idea, and if he mucked it up, he could end up getting extremely hurt.
He waited for a minute before stomping down hard on one of Jadis' feet.
Jadis let out a scream of pain as she released her hold on Edmund.
Edmund quickly ran out one of the side doors, as fast as he could.
Jadis swore under her breath, but then smiled. Turning to the hag she said: "make sure that no one can leave this castle." The hag nodded. "He won't be able to go far." Jadis added with a smirk.
But Edmund's plan wasn't to leave. He just needed to hide. Hide until everyone woke up. There was no way that he was leaving his siblings in the castle alone with Jadis.
So he ran - ignoring the pounding in his head and the sick feeling in his stomach - trying to find somewhere to hide.
