John silently hissed as Robin dropped a thick yellow slimy mixture into his bullet wound. He quickly covered it with a white piece of cloth and applied pressure which made John toss his head back in pain. Robin had laid him down on a flat stone and asked me to hold his hand because, and I quote: "This is going to hurt like a buttcheek on a stick,"
John had practically squeezed the blood circulation in my hand shut. So we were both suffering. "You doing okay there, pall?" Robin asked and looked at John. John shot a glare at Robin before squeezing my hand even harder. "He's not okay," I wheezed in pain before hitting the flat stone where John was laying on multiple times. Robin sighed. "It's gonna hurt. If it doesn't, it's probably not working," I looked up at Robin. "How did you figure out how to make this?" I asked and looked around at the other potions. They were displayed on racks all around the cave he lived in.
"Experience," He answered as he put the empty bottle back on the rack. I took a deep breath and looked back at John. "He'll be fine, right?" I asked as I put my other hand over his hand. "Of course, I'm not an amateur," Robin huffed and swam to the other side of his little lab. "It'll heal,"
"You're using the future tense," John pointed out. "When is it going to heal?" He asked and jerked his hand out of mine. "It could be a week, it could be a few months," Robin shrugged. "Okay, doc. Thanks for the help. I'll be on my way to try and figure out why I have a tail," John grunted as he sat up straight and pushed himself off the flat stone. "Good luck," Robin said, not really paying any attention. "What? No!" I spat at Robin while John slowly began to swim away. "You can't just let him go!" I said as she looked at Robin and then at John. "I know you will follow him," Robin said as he looked over his shoulder.
"I hate that you're right,"
"Always," Robin whispered and looked at some engraved stone tablets. I threw him a questioning look before quickly swimming after John. Somehow, he had figured out how to steadily swim forward. He wasn't going fast. But he was going at a constant speed. "John," I called. "Oh, great," He groaned as I began to swim next to him.
"You know," He stopped swimming. "I don't know what kind of sea witch you are but I want you to turn me back into a human right now!" John snapped. "...About that," I hesitantly began. "I'm half a mermaid and half a siren. So I can't really help you at the moment," I slowly said. "What?" John hissed making me even more anxious. "You kissed me several times-" "Don't remind me." "-And that means that you're now a siren too."
"You did what now?"
"Half a siren, to be precise," I corrected myself. "I can only give as much as I have," She explained. "So half-siren and half-human?" John asked in dismay. "Yes, but actually no," I said.
"What am I?"
"That's a pretty philosophical question-"
"Y/N." John sternly said as he pinched his nose. "What am I?" I looked to the side and back at him. "I can't answer your question because there is no answer," John cocked his eyebrow. "The question should be: what are we?"
"We are one now," I explained. "What kind of spiritual bullsh*t are you telling me?" John asked very skeptically. "We are sharing the human side," I said. "I don't have one, but the potion is keeping it as if it is and now we're sharing it," I explained. "And that means?" John asked.
"That means that one of us can get out of the water and turn into a human. The other one can too but then the first one needs to be in the water," John looked up. "So if I get out of the water, you'll be forced to stay down here and if I were to return to the water and reclaim... whatever I am now, you could go out and transform into a human?" John asked. "Yeah, pretty much-"
A gush of bubbled flew into my face. I waved my hand around and looked up. John was swimming up at full speed. "Mother f- John!" I yelled as I raced toward him. But by the time I was above water, John had swum up to a rock and pulled himself out of the water. As soon as he wasn't submerged, his legs returned, showing off his ripped beige pants. He took some deep breaths in and coughed. "F*ck you," He grunted.
The rock was close enough to literally jump to the dock of the harbor.
