After what had happened, Y/N and John were welcomed in the village by the mayor himself. They set up a few table-like things around the temple in the center of the village.
"We'd like to thank you on behalf of the village," The head of the village said at the big banquet the village had thrown for Y/N and John. Not only did they celebrate their resistance but also the fact that their beloved Aerwyna didn't tragically die. On his right side sat the guard, his wife, and their son. On his left side sat Y/N and a very uncomfortable John. "We'll provide a bag of nutrition for your travels when you depart tomorrow," The leader said. "Now, let us indulge in this feast," And so everyone at the massive table started eating off their plates.
"Y/N," John whispered. "Yes?" She asked. "I gotta tell you something-" "So, Y/N," The guard right in front of them said, interrupting John. "Where are you guys from?" He asked. "Lynn and I were pondering about it a bit," Aerwyna said with a bright smile. "Oh," Y/N said, looking at John who in turn looked back at her. "We don't really have a settlement. We just... travel around. We did meet around the circle reef down south," She answered. "I figured. You guys don't look like the people around here," Lynn said.
"I was worried about you guys being sirens at first," He added which made Y/N smile nervously. "But you guys seem like fine merfolk," He smiled before taking a bite of his food. "We've had some bad experiences with them in the past," Aerwyna added. "They're so rude. Such loners too," She sighed. "Yeah, they're real b*tches," Y/N nervously said as she stuck a piece of fish wrapped in seaweed in her mouth. John raised his eyebrow and the other two fell silent. "So about the sailors," The leader said, ignoring Y/N's very humanoid insult. "They've been
circling around these parts for quite a long time now," He said.
"We were wondering if you guys would like to help us take the whole ship down," Now John felt incredibly uncomfortable. "I don't know. I don't like harming people," Y/N said. "They started it. Besides, they shouldn't have been messing around with their nets so much. This isn't the first time they've tried attacking our people. Some of us got badly injured but luckily none of us have died yet," He said.
"Even so, they don't know what they're doing," Y/N argued with a frown. "The village is scared and we only want what's best for us," The leader stated. Y/N looked down and fumbled with her hands. "I guess it doesn't really insure their death," She mumbled. "Plus they kinda do deserve it at this point," She said, convincing herself. "I'll do it," She finally said which surprised John.
"Great. Tomorrow at dawn, we strike," The leader said, nodding to her. The smile she gave him slowly faded when he looked away. "Y/N," John said very slowly. "I know, I know," Y/N quickly said. "No, you don't," John argued back. "I don't want to hurt the sailors but they're hurting the people here," She said. "No, it's not about that," John whispered. "What?" Y/N asked with a frown.
"Hercules is on that ship,"
Y/N's eyes widened as John quickly stuffed some food into his mouth. "Oh no," Y/N slowly said, shaking her head while John raised his nose to the food he just stuffed in his mouth. "Ew," He said after swallowing. "This is not good," she mumbled. "This is bad," she said, looking at John who was still chewing on his food with a disgusted look on his face. "Yep," He gagged. "You eat this stuff for fun?" He then asked.
"Erm, mister mayor, sir?" Y/N asked as he looked at the leader of the village. "My friend and I are very tired. Could we head in for the night so we're prepared to take care of the ship tomorrow?" She asked with a bright smile. "Of course. There's an empty cave on the east side of the village. The children helped to stuff it with some soft moss for your comfort," He answered with a nod. "Wow! Awesome! Thanks!" Y/N said, getting up from her sitting position and pulling John along with her. "See you guys tomorrow!" she waved before leaving with John.
