"Where'd you go last night?"

"You remember the girl with the red dress last night?" I asked, Simon nodding. "I took her out to the town's square and I have a date with her this morning."

I assumed that Simon would congratulate me or high five me—needless to say, I was taken aback when he groaned out loud. "You're joking!"

I raised an eyebrow. "What?"

He groaned even louder, sitting up on the bed with his arms crossed over. "Do you remember a certain promise you made to your friends that we'd do after the ball?"

My eyebrows remained furrowed as I tried to remember what he was talking about.

"I'm only in Estherfold for a week," Marissa said.

"Boo!" Simon wailed, earning some stares from the Ball's guests. "Can't you stay here longer?"

She shook her head, "I really can't, just think of what the people of Lindale are going—"

"C'mon," he continued to complain, "you're allowed to take breaks."

"Yeah," I agreed, Marissa staring at me, "You've been working non-stop ever since you were crowned, they'd understand."

She bit her lip, pondering over the decision. "Please Mawissa," Simon whimpered like a baby, pouting his lip. She grabbed his pouted lip and squeezed it, earning another whimper from him.

"Please Marissa," I didn't expect myself to sound so serious, "at least a few weeks. We'll all hang out like we used to."

I didn't miss the blush on her face when I mentioned the past but it was instantly gone when she smiled.

"Okay," Simon threw a fist in the air, "But, only for a few weeks!"

Simon tightly wrapped his arms around Marissa and me.

"Simon! My hair—"

"Simon ease up on the hold—"

"My best friends!" He squeezed tighter.

I smiled at the fond memory before a pillow suddenly struck me in the face. "What the hell!"

"You forgot didn't you!" Simon accused, pointing his finger at me.

I sighed, rubbing my face in my hand. "Look, I'm sorry," he rolled his eyes, "I just got caught up in the moment."

He shook his head at me as I felt the guilt seep into my body.

He sighed once more. "I'll tell Marissa you were busy." He picked up his coat and slowly started to put on his shoes.

"I'm sorry man, I know how much all of us hanging out meant to you," I placated.
