10 YEARS AGO, MARYLAND

Jame Gumb led a quiet existence as a backroom tailor. He accepted that people didn't find him attractive. They would divert their eyes wherever he went trying not to stare. Children were pulled away by parents from him as if he was a monster. He too didn't like looking at himself in the mirror. How did something so hideous ever come out of such a beautiful woman? He compared himself to the only picture he had of her every morning.

Jame's life changed the day he helped with a customer's fitting. The man was incredibly handsome. He could easily pass as a model with his chiseled face and toned body. He oozed sophistication and manly charm from every pore. If there was ever a man he wanted to be, it was Benjamin Raspail.

Benjamin made sure to always smile at Jame and leave a big tip after each session. It was amazing that someone like Benjamin would show him such kindness. It didn't fall unnoticed how Jame stared at him. They shared their first moment while Jame was hemming his pants. Benjamin tilted to the side to slip his soft fingers under his chin and make Jame look up at him. He interrupted Jame's envy as desire," What are you doing tonight?"

Jame didn't recognize flirting," Oh I don't know. Watching TV."

" No, you're not. You're having dinner with me tonight."

" Oh okay," Jame replied.

" I'll pick you up after work. What time do you get off?"

" Seven," he lowered his head.

" I'll be right outside the door," he flashed his charismatic smile. Jame was over the moon that he made a friend who was true to his word. Benjamin drove him to his expensive two-bedroom home by the lake where he cooked for them. Jame was impressed by his fancy furniture, musical instruments, and a hot tub on the back deck. This man had everything. Why did he want to be Jame's friend? Benjamin handed him a glass of red wine wanting to know more about him.

" Oh, there's nothing special about me," Jame mumbled. His darkness didn't need to spread onto anyone else. He wanted to enjoy the evening longer.
