Day Nine

80) You wake up really late and dread getting up.

Yesterday was the worst day of your life...

You drag yourself out of bed and wander around the prison.

You don't have a clue where you are going, all you know is that you need to get on with life... even if you feel like absolute shit.

'Hey!'

You turn around and see Rick smiling at you.

Phew... It looks like Lori hasn't told Rick.

'Hey' you reply. 'Can I talk to you... like alone...'

Rick stares at you. 'Err... yeah. Just give me a minute or so. I've got a million and one things that I need to do, like find Carl and give Chelsea some food and water... and-'

'Chelsea?'

Rick smiles. 'Yeah. That's the name of the girl that you found in the tent. She woke up last night at midnight and screamed the place down. Daryl had to restrain her before she'd shut up. Someone needs to feed her though... and check her for bites.'

'I'll do it,' you offer.

Rick raises a brow. 'You sure?'

'Uh-huh.'

You walk down to Chelsea's cell and find that she's still asleep.

'Wakey, wakey sleeping beauty,' you mutter bitterly. 'How was the hibernation?'

Chelsea's eyes open and she instantly sits up. You glare at her and then push the water bottle through the bars.

'Here,' you snap.

She stands up and cautiously edges towards you. She extends one arm out and takes the bottle out of your hand. You notice that the minute you let go of the bottle and the weight of the water is on her arm, she begins to wince and twists her face to the side in pain.

'Ow!' she yelps.

You squint at her arm and suspicion rises inside of you.

'What's up?' you question.

She shrugs and looks away. 'Nothing. Everything's fine.'

'Hey! Get off!' she cries.

You pull her shirt sleeve up and stare at the open wound.

'You've been bitten...' you mutter.

Chelsea begins to cry.

'Please don't tell... it might not be a bite-'

'What do you mean "it might not be a bite"? Is it a bite or is it not?' you push.

She sniffs and looks down at her feet. 'I don't know... I was running away from the walkers when all of a sudden... I felt this sharp pain in my arm. I don't know whether I got bitten or if I caught it on something... please don't tell anyone!'
