Y/N POV

After Thomas told me his real name, I don't know what I felt, but I felt something, and rushed to get him the blood that he needed. When I got back-

Thomas:"Leave us."

Suit Guy 1:"B-But boss-"

Thomas:"You've done enough."

He said it so quietly, yet I could hear the intensity in his voice and if he was my superior, perhaps I'd be afraid too, because they all scurried away.

Thomas:"Before you get any wild thoughts, those are some of my weakest men."

I stay quiet as I hang up his blood and adjust all his wires, silently smirking to myself at the fact that he had to address how I kicked all his men's asses.

Thomas:"My usual men are on an important mission."

Y/n:"Yet you chose to go out in public."

These men were loyal, I'll give him that.

He sits up and usually you'd advise a patient not to, but I knew he wouldn't listen anyway, he's probably dealt with wounds like this before. The room was dim, his lights off, but the hallway lights shining in.

Y/n:"Don't you have your own doctor?"

If this really was the infamous H and what I've heard is true, he should.

Thomas:"She's on leave. Pregnant."

I pause and glare at him. She? Then why the hell did he make such a big fuss about me working on him?

Thomas:"She was the best doctor in the country," answering my mental quesiton.

Y/n:"Well, I'm the best around here."

Thomas:"Confident," he almost hisses.

Y/n:"You came to me, didn't you?"

He ever so slightly tilted his head and a curl escaped from his brown, pushed back hair, resting on his forehead, and we stared at each other for a moment.

Thomas:"If my other men were here, you might be dead right now, the second you touched one of us."

Y/n:"Then you might be dead too, because as far as I know, I saved your life."

His eyes twitched, like they were daring to glare at me, but he fought back to remain looking collected. He wasn't used to anyone talking back to him.

Y/n:"I assume you'll be gone by the time I return?"

Thomas:"Likely."

I nod and turn to leave, but he grabs my wrist, and I mentally kick myself for letting the shiver escape this time and travel down my spine at his touch.

Thomas:"Work for me."

I turn around and exhale, and he lets go of my wrist.

Y/n:"Do you like being the boss, Mr. Holland?"

He nods.

Y/n:"Well, so do I."

I could have imagined it, but I swear I saw him smirk.

THOMAS POV

I watched her walk out of my room, confidece in her stride, and I'll admit, but never out loud, this girl intrigued me... But I'm not stupid and I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to her than just being a doctor.

I didn't lie, these were my weaker men, but still, she took them out with cockiness and ease, like she knew she could handle them before she had to.

I wouldn't doubt that she was even more skilled than what I saw today and I was determined to find out how, because her entire demeanor wasn't something you learned from a class... It was almost like mine.

I lay back in my bed and signal my men back in.

Thomas:"Now, tell me how the fuck I'm going to deal with this? Do you know how many people, how many gang members, saw a girl fuck you up today?"

They stayed silent.

Thomas:"And that's on top of me having to come to a public hospital in general, for getting ambushed?"

I was the biggest mobster in America, with ties to the biggest bosses everywhere else. I knew my profile and I knew I was powerful, that we were powerful.

So, things were pretty smooth sailing when it came to "enemies" since no one bothered us, no one dared to, and I was able to focus on the important business. But, how did the events of today make me look?

The few months was going to be a pain in my ass, because word got out and people suddenly thought we were a lot weaker than they thought and decided to test their fate... Which didn't go very well.

We stayed out of the public and no one ever got past the front gate of any of our homes or warehouses. It wasn't long before our dominance was established once again and I shake my head at the amount of people that had to die for them to understand.

I think back to that day at the hospital, a hint of anger building up in me again at that doctor because she was a part of the reason for this mess.

Contrary to popular belief, I don't like killing people and the less bodies shed, the better. If people just let me run my business in peace, no one would get hurt.

Harrison:"Oi, you're gonna get wrinkles," referring to my scrunched face while I thought about all of this.

Thomas:"Shut up," I glance at him.

Harrison is my right-hand man but has been by my side since before I was old enough to join the mafia.

He was different though. Although he could be serious and intimidating when he needed so that people still respected and feared him, he was generally the more light-hearted one of us.

Harrison:"Thinking about the doctor?"

Thomas:"Yeah," I say as I run my thumb over my lip.

Harrison:"I mean, she's pretty hot, from what I've seen from the photos," he jokes.

Thomas:"That's not why I'm thinking about her."

Harrison:"Sure, sure."

Thomas:"Don't you have something to do?" I shake my head as I stand and walk out of the room.

He just chuckles like he always does.

Thomas:"Someone get me Hunter!" I demand as I walk down the hall, into the main office of out HQ.

I pour myself a drink and sit while I wait.

Hunter: "Boss?" He says as he walks in.

Thomas:"Any new information on the doctor?"

Hunter: "No, boss, I can't find anything else."

Thomas:"Keep looking."

He just nods as I wave him away and spin my chair around to face the city below me.

Who are you, doc?

The only useful information we can find are her credentials and her current address... But it's almost as if she didn't exist until she became a doctor, which only confirms my belief that she's hiding something.

Perhaps we'd pay her a little visit.
