THOMAS POV

I lay in bed that night, thinking about her. I couldn't explain the way I felt as I listened to her footsteps fade down the hall after the whole Naomi incident, the regretful look in her eyes burned in my mind.

I even passed her bedroom that night, pausing... Contemplating on going in to talk to her. I raised my fist to knock, but of course I didn't. I walked away.

Truth is I haven't gone home, to my own house, since she's been back here, staying here with her and anyone else who worked or decided they wanted to.

Everyone had their own homes, besides her, but also had a designated living area and room here too. It's advertised that we have rooms available for booking, but it's just a cover so we're always too "booked".

We own the entire building, different sections playing different roles... Previously known as just 432 Park Avenue, the second tallest building in New York, I had purchased it and it was now our headquarters. But to the public, it's just a luxury multi-purpose building and yes, some parts were actually open to the public, but that's just to help with our cover.

Like how we had a hospital wing, we also had offices, luxury suites, living areas, etc. We even had a few restaurants and at the top, our big conference room.

Level 13 is totally inaccessible like a lot of other buildings do because of superstition, but it's actually our security and weaponry wing.

I sometimes chuckle at the fact that people come here to have a romantic dinner in one of our luxury restaurants, not knowing what thrived upstairs...

I woke the next morning with intention to head to our gym to do some training, but stopped when I heard the doc and Harrison in our common kitchen.

Harrison:"You just seem... Sad."

Y/n:"I'm not sad. It's just not something I wanted."

Harrison:"You've been on missions with us before."

He said that in a way that implied that he meant that she's already killed people, so why was she so upset?

Y/n:"Those had purpose... We took down human trafficking rings or child pornography creeps."

Harrison:"So you're saying those were justifiable?"

Y/n:"Heh," I heard her scoff, "Perhaps not in the face of the law... But you know what I mean."

Harrison:"Well, she was going to kill one of our own, because he killed someone who was going to kill her. It doesn't make sense, even if that was her brother, he had no problem killing her and we protected her-"

Y/n:"But now she's dead anyway. And I killed her."

Harrison:"She betrayed us. She leaked our-"

Y/n:"Us... Our... That's the thing. I'm not even part of this mafia. I'm just... I'm just a doctor... Yet I feel like I defended it like it affected me... I killed her for what?"

Harrison:"Then what does that tell you?"

It's silent for quite a bit and I keep my feet planted behind the wall, careful not to let them hear me.

Y/n:"All I know is that I killed a girl for being angry."

Harrison:"You know that's not all it was... We're a high profile, multi-billion-dollar underground organization and she leaked intel. At the very least, she was going to kill your patient, she came at you, you defended."

Y/n:"It was cross-fire I wouldn't have had to be in if-"

Harrison:"If what, we never found you? Brought you in? If you weren't there, Sean might be dead... And a lot of other men you helped save."
