THOMAS POV

So here I was, looking in the mirror, running my hands through my heavily gelled hair, slicked back so hard that you'd never guess my hair naturally curls.

We both made the excuse that I'd be the only one fit for the job, fit to be her fake significant other, given all that I can do and all that I know.

Perhaps it's true.

No one else in my mafia knew who she really was.

But we both knew there were other reasons.

We could have easily trusted Harrison with this.

Y/n:"Thank you, Thomas," she almost whispered as we got into the car and I just nod.

It's silent for a bit.

Thomas:"I think I'm due some things in return."

Y/n:"What do you want to know?" She sighs, knowing I meant answers I never got.

[What'd you think he meant, you nasties?]

I let out a smirk as I turn my head to look at her, knowing she'd be looking back at me.

Thomas:"Anything at this point."

Y/n:"Well... I'm not sure. You know who I am, what I did back then, and what I've doing since."

Thomas:"How'd you become a doctor so young?"

She raises her eyebrows, clearly not expecting that to be my question, probably thinking I was going to ask more about her family or her being the phantom.

Y/n:"I'm smart," she shrugs and let's out a chuckle, "I was a... Prodigy of some sort."

Thomas:"In more ways than one, I assume."

Y/n:"I suppose..." She nods, knowing I'm referring to her mafia life, given that she took down those big leaders when she was only around 17 years old.

Y/n:"I finished what you call high school really early and was doing college courses at the same time."

Thomas:"Ah. When you can get a college degree before you've even finished high school."

Y/n:"So I graduted 'high school' at 14, earned my 4-year degree by 16 years old, then I sped through the first half of med-school in just 1 year since it was non-clinicals, lectures, and a big test."

Thomas:"But for the clinicals?"

Y/n:"I was on rotation with other students so I wasn't able to fast-track that, so that was another 2 years, then 3 years of residency."

Thomas:"So you officially became a doctor at 22?"

Y/n:"Mhm... And the rest is history. I knew there was a gap in medical treatment for this... Demographic."

Thomas:"Criminals?"

She nods.

Thomas:"Was that a business decision or personal?"

I ask, already knowing the answer from that time I eavesdropped on her conversation, and because I found out she'd covere expenses if some couldn't.

When she said there was a gap in the market for treating criminals, it meant two ways: Business meaning she could make money since no one else was doing it, or personal, meaning she knew no one else wanted to do it and she wanted to help.

Y/n:"We're here," she avoids my question.

As I sat next to her, across from Riccardo, I lean back in my chair a little bit as they speak, a mix of both italian and english, so I can fairly keep up.
