Upswing.

The wind that rushed up from the water below us threw my red braid back into the wind. I inhaled quickly,
"Trust your gut," I whisper. "Fly like a Dragon."

As I spoke these words, Kyndra pushed her large head under my lowered arm, her muffled purring distracting me. Lightly, I rubbed her middle horns, her green ivories scanning the vast water beyond us. I guess she was unsure, too.

"We'll be okay.." I assured us both. She glanced up, humming slightly. "... If something goes wrong, catch me." with that, she licked her eye alike a gecko. I stepped backward, a good running start was drastically needed. Pulling my father's old mask over my face, I let out a wild war cry, "Ahhhhh!!" I ran, Kyndra's wide eyed expression proving that maybe my cry was a bit too much. Jumping off the small cliff, I immediately and mistakenly stretched out my arms. With closed eyes, I allowed myself to sync with the air. Behind me, Kyndra let out a loud cry, almost forcing my eyes to open. Beyond me was the wild ocean; quite peaceful for a large moving body of water. But better yet- I was flying!

"Woah!" I called moving my legs sporadically. Rolling onto my back, I was to lift my head up, seeing Kyndra in the near distance. "Are you coming?" I called. The cat-like dragon tilted her white head before also diving from the cliff, disappearing below me. I attempt to turn on my stomach, but am instantly welcomed by that of a golden Typhoomerang. You gotta be joking. As the dragon enlarged it's mouth, the embers forming above it's gob, I put my arms to my side, falling to my right and past the dragon. Quickly looking over my shoulder, I notice the dragon quickly turning to follow me. As it's mouth once again opened, wings large enough to break buildings, I felt my body become picked up. Gripping onto the breastplate, Kyndra had swooped up to rescue me. As the Typhoomerang let a belch of fire, it's hollow-fire quickly reached us.

"Go, go, go!" as I shout the words, Kyndra let out a plasma blast of her own, her wings folding closer to her body as she rode through the blast, my eyes closed. As we continued to drive through the wind, we quickly materialised back into the air. I looked over our shoulders, the Typhoomerang circling itself in the pursuit of us. "Close one." I whisper, pulling my braid over my shoulder, clenching the small spark of fire that was embedded onto the tips of my hair.

The sun was soon setting when we finally made it back to New Berk. Kyndra dove to our front door, where I unclipped the saddle as she was able to simply slip out. Pulling off my helmet, I barged inside, trying my hardest to pull it over the suit.

"Dad!" I shout, almost running into at least several things. Sitting on a seat in front of the fire was father, stirring a large pot. At the sight of me, he slowly stood up, letting go of the pot as he went to my aid. Helping me pull off the helmet, he let off a large smile.

"I assume it went good?" he asked. I nod my head with haste, pulling my hair from my face.

"At first, well we found this epic drop off! I dove off and kinda zoomed through, and then Kyn followed me. And then! Then I ran into a Typhoomerang! I got away, only because Kyndra grabbed me. But it was so cool!" I was to rant. Dad nodded the whole way through as Kyndra poked her head through the door, her white head silhouetted by the fire. "Can we go again tomorrow?" father looked between the Dragon and myself.

"I don't suppose why not.. But take Nuffink with you!" he said semi-sternly. Shutting my mouth, I allowed my eyebrow to hitch.

"He doesn't have a flight suit-"

"Actually, him and I made one. In secret. Now there's no getting away with Kyndra to the forest, alone." father winked,  before turning back to the pot. "You'll be taking him with you." I let out a sigh, sitting down over near the fire. Kyndra came over, dropping her very large breastplate and saddle seat next to me before curling up next to the stairs. "Have I told you about how we got the Dragons?"

"Yeah. With Toothless?" I answer, folding my legs patiently as I allowed myself to restrain body temperature.

"No. Your dragons." I look up toward dad, his attention still, however, on the pot.

"I don't think so.." I answer. Dad looks over to me, a weaker look in his eyes.

"Hiccup?" Astrid called from the front room. Hiccup made his way over, the rain heavy on the roofs of the houses. "Someone's out the front!" Hiccup wiped his hands from preparing the fish they'd have for dinner, before pulling open the door. There, stood a fairly-sized black dragon, more sunken to the ground than usual. Hiccup watched on. The dragon showed little to no signs of aggression. It's eyes were deep.

"Toothless?" he spoke. The Nightfury looked up to his old owner, his sunken green eyes showed pain. Hiccup reached over, placing his hand on Toothless' bridge. It was warm and wet, not the same texture as the rain. Taking his hand away, he noticed the blood that left his hand tainted. Before Hiccup could speak, Toothless had pushed in two smaller dragons; the Lightfury's black scaled babies. The Lightfury made her way over, too; wounds visible on her white scales. She gently placed in the only white baby they had. Astrid held Nuffink's hand as one of the black dragons came over, gently licking his fingers. Before Hiccup could speak, Toothless and his mate had already ran off into the night. Hiccup turned around to look at the babies, worry once again in his eyes.

"Something isn't right." he muttered. Astrid's expression said it all as the dragons slowly explored their new home.
