Tip 10: Using Photos
The final tip is: photos. Using photos is so useful in so many ways. You could be inspired by an image you see. You could find a picture of someone who could be a character.
Starting with inspiration, photos play a large role. Seeing the image of anything could spark a story in your mind. Whatever it is, the inspiration was given to you for a reason. If you see a story sparking, don't put out the flames. Fuel the fire with your ideas.
Something a lot of graphic designers use is face claims. A face claim is a person who plays a character in a story. Many covers have face claims on them. If you see anyone at all on a cover, that is considered a face claim. They could be a famous person or an unknown person. But whoever it is, they are playing the role of someone's character. You may even base a character off of someone famous you see.
Photos or images can be found anywhere. On Instagram, google or even photographs from that box in your basement can spark a story idea. Ideas are where story's are formed. If you want to be an author, you need ideas. If you want ideas, you need inspiration.
