Chapter Three

"I'd like to thank every one of you for coming out and supporting me and Smith Corp." Lydia's cheerful tone runs through the room from the speakers near. "Now, if you are all ready and hungry, dinner will be served in the next ten minutes! If you can please all find your seats, there is a seating chart, the tables will hold a card with your name. Thank you! Enjoy your dinner and have a great night!"

I grunt my teeth. It's 6:49. I still haven't got near Lydia or even a word with her. I look through half the tables before I find my name at the fair end near a huge window showing the city view. I remember the view from my bedroom window, two years ago. When I lived on top of the hill, overlooking the city lights.

"This one! I want this one, dad!"

My parents stand in the doorway looking at each other lovingly. They had just bought a five bedroom house on top of a hill over looking New York. The backyard held a 500 aches of trees, they said a small steam ran through. The property was private, since we were out of city limits and had a fence around the house and most of the way out back.

"Whatever you want, sweetie." Dad says, happily. Him and mom smile brightly at me. I look around me happily. I'm already imagining were everything would go. Except I got caught on the huge view in front of me again. From upstairs, you could see the bright lights and barely hear the noise of the city over the trees.

"Mom! Dad!" Ed yells down the hall.

They stop staring at each other for a minute and listen.

"We should go check on him, Will." Mom says. He nods and I follow behind them as we go find Ed.

He's standing by the window in the hallway, jumping up excited. Pointing to the door on his right. He's already at a loss for words, just like me.

He runs in and we follow after him laughing at how excited he looks. We stand by the doorway, he's running around the room happy. Telling us where he's going to put everything.

"I'll put my books over here! My fish there! Oh! My bed can go by this corner, avoid the light and near the bathroom! That wall can be for my pictures and posters! My desk will definitely go against that wall, by the window! Yeah! I want this room!" He's so happy and excited. I love when he's like this, at sixteen, we were both stressed or angry. Dad got this house not only for better sleep but for a change for us.

"Sure, son." Dad says, he hugs mom closer and kisses her forehead.

"Yes!" He begins rumbling off again.

"When does everything get here?" I say.

"Yeah! When!" Ed asks more eagerly.

"Today or tomorrow at the latest." Dad says.

"Cool." Ed says and he goes back to planning everything.

"Elizabeth? Honey, are you feeling okay?" Mom asks me, I look at her, her and dad are watching me.

"Yeah. I'm great! Why wouldn't I be?" I say, uncrossing my arms.

She looks at me before nodding. "Your father and I are going to the store. Do you two need anything?"

"No." We both say. We look at each other and smile, shrugging. They smile and nod before laughing and walking out.

"You're rooms cool." I say.
