Bataar and H4-S0N of Orion kneel in the presence of a throne, resting inside a dark, medieval castle. Light breaks through the windows, illuminating the two. The throne and the man sitting on it, however, remain shrouded in darkness.
Next to the throne, Hollow stands with his arms crossed.
Bataar: "My Lord... what is it you require?"
"Information is a valuable commodity these days... I am sure you two are aware."
Hason: "Of course, my Lord. Everyone's trying to get a slice of the pie!"
Hollow: "Speak in line when addressing our Excellency!"
"Please, Lieutenant." He holds his hand up, which is enough for Hollow to quiet down. "The battles are hard-fought, but there is a reason we leave such tasks to our soldiers... there are jobs that only my finest could complete."
"Scorpius prods at our operations every day... they want to know the truth. If they are to succeed, information will be vital. As long as we stop this from happening... well, things will be simple."
Bataar: "I agree, my Lord. Whatever it is that you need of us, we will fulfill it to the best of our abilities."
"This makes me glad to hear, Bataar. It's time to see if your actions are as bold as your words." He nods to the Lieutenant, who steps forward.
Hollow: "You two are headed for one of the largest Scorpius radio towers in the United States... a tall building with heavy security. All you have to do is deactivate it, however you please. It's so simple, even you two could pull it off."
Bataar closes his eyes, keeping his composure. "Very well. We will not fail."
"I expect that you will not. You are all dismissed." As the Lord reveals several holographic screens around his throne that he scrolls through, Hollow walks past the duo and leaves the castle. As he does, however, he glares at Bataar.
"We'll see what your confidence does for you, Bataar."
Bataar watches the Lieutenant leave, as does Hason.
Hason: "You two got beef?"
Bataar grimaces and shakes his head. "Just come with me, let's not discuss anything more."
Hason: "You're the boss, Gutsy!"
Bataar leads Hason out of the castle, leaving the Lord to his devices.

Chapter 9 - My Ultimatum
Six Years Into the War
Blanc sits up in her infirmary bed, tapping at the blanket. Vinny sits next to her, his arms crossed.
Blanc: "Sir... do you think I can be released soon?"
Vinny: "You're still recovering, Blanc. You'll be out in no time."
Blanc: "No time... how long is no time?"
Vinny sighs. "Listen, Blanc... I know you're excited to try your hand at another mission, but you're still not ready. You'll need more training before you can go again."
Blanc: "Alright... I guess."
Vinny: "It'll pay off, I promise."
Blanc thinks, then pats her stomach. "Do you think... you could grab some food for me?"
Vinny: "You hungry? No problem. Wait right here, I'll get you something."
Vinny stands up and walks out of the infirmary, unsuspectingly leaving Blanc to herself and her new idea. Against Vinny's wishes, she climbs out of the bed and grabs her jacket. She suits up before running outside.
