Information War

"Stand your ground!"

"Here they come! Everyone, stay sharp!"

"Hold, hold! Wait..."

Soldiers covered with dark armor hold their rifles, all trained at a single, metal door. The building rumbles, and muffled gunfire and explosives sound from the outside. Terry Blake waits with them, holding a pistol in his hands.

Sweat rolls down Terry's face, and he finds it hard to keep a firm grip on his weapon.

Then, the metal door is slammed from the outside. It shakes but does not give. The second hit is enough to create a small dent.

"Here he comes!"

"Hold your fire!"

The third strike starts to wear at the doorframe, and the fourth nearly tears the door from it. With one last kick, the door collapses and leaves an opening for Sentinels to march inside. The soldiers quickly retaliate as a firefight ensues in the room. After all of the Sentinels walk inside, the last guest makes himself known.

Lieutenant Hollow, dragging his axe on the floor, creeps under the doorframe and scans the room.

Hollow: "Slaughter them like dogs!"

The Sentinels spread out, filling the room and wearing down the enemy soldiers. Both sides lose men quickly, and only a handful of soldiers are left when the Sentinels are destroyed.

Hollow spins his axe and lifts it. "Anyone who's left... you're a prisoner."

Terry runs up to Hollow from behind, shooting his back twice. Hollow growls and uses the handle of his weapon to strike Terry's face and knock him down. Then, he turns around and grabs Terry's collar, lifting him. Terry's kicking legs are action in vain.

Hollow: "... Well, look what we have here! A dog of the military."

"You should know better than to bite... wild dogs are put down."

Terry: "Nrrh... fuck you!"

Hollow drops Terry to the ground as more Sentinels walk in through the broken doorframe. "Take them hostage and prepare the broadcast. Maui is ours!"

As the rest of the soldiers are rounded up and dragged away, Hollow's laugh reverberates throughout the building. Outside of the building, the Valkyrie floats above the island as several smaller fleets spread and drown out the opposition of Scorpius.

Chapter 12 - Information War

Six Years Into the War

"What is this? A hijacking?"

Ephris and Blanc, sitting in the infirmary of New York City's base, see something strange coming from the screen mounted on the wall across from them. While the screen only shows static at first, the picture soon becomes clear, revealing the Lieutenant.

Blanc: "Hollow? What... is this?"

Hollow's message spreads to every Scorpius that can see it, to their transmitters and radios alike. Everyone tunes into the Lieutenant's message as he holds his axe behind his legs.

Hollow: "Scorpius... every one of you watching! Some of you may have already gotten the news... and the distress signals. Your military base in Maui has been overrun, and it belongs to Orion now!"

Ephris leans forward in her seat. "... What?"

"You Scorpus are stubborn. I expect you're going to be eager to send reinforcements... so, let's set the record straight."
