Sapphire (Resident evil 6)

Chapter 27

The twin towers looked like a mess the moment they arrived. All of the military vehicles were destroyed, guns, blood, and dead bodies were all over the place.

"What the hell happened here?" Leon asks as they looked around, all of them holding their guns in their hands while they kept themselves alert for the worst.

"Sapphire, stay close to me" Sapphire nods and does what Jake told her to. Jake raised gun out as we walked along the mess around them, hearing a sound of metal scraps hitting the floor.

They heard a deep grunt and all of them aimed their guns to where the sound camr from. It was from Carter. Carter looked like he was in pain; arms wrapped around his stomach.

"Well, look who we have here" Jake glare at Carter, lightly pushing Sapphire behind him in a protective manner.

"I did everything for you! How could... you—Agh!" Carter falls on his knees and continues to groan.

"What's happening to him?" Sherry asks.

"Beats me" Was Jake's non-chalant reply. A strong gush of wind came out of nowhere, making them look up in the air. It was a chopper. A light points down to Carter and he looks up.

"Ada!" Leon sounded shocked. "I thought she died."

It's that lady at the port... The one who saved Sherry from that chainsaw freak. The mysterious red lady, or 'Ada' as Leon called her, kept her eyes on Carter who was on his knees, sweating profusely.

"How is that possible?" Leon's partner asks.

Carter looked up and screams, "Why? Why did you do this to me? You said you loved me! I trusted you! I did everything you wanted! All off this... everything! FOR YOU!" He began to burst into flames. He was screaming as he slowly began to turn into a cocoon.

The chopper began to fire bullets and the five of themwent to look for cover. Sapphire, Sherry, and Jake hid behind a truck. Leon and his partner were hiding behind a post. Jake looked behind to see the chopper firing at the cocoon; it was torn to shreds.

The chopper stops firing and points it's light at the three. Jake placed a hand on top of his eyes, using it as a cover so the lights wouldn't blind him. He chopper began to go up, the light slowly pointing away from them.

"We should head to higher ground, it'll be a lot safer for us" Leon's partner speaks up.

"Yeah" Sherry replies, "Let's go."

"There's an elevator over there, c'mon." Leon says as he walks towards one that was at far end of the area.

All of them followed Leon as he headed towards the elevator, or at least Jake thought it was all of them. When the four of them had stopped at the elevator while waiting for the door to open. Jake saw Sapphire standing in front of where Carter had died.

Jake went to her, "Hey" He called her attention but she paid him no mind. "Let's go. It's not safe here."

"He... shouldn't have died like this... It was too easy for him." She says, her voice laced with venom. "All of those people that died because of him, I remember all of them."

"He's dead now, that's all that matters." Jake reasoned. "He's not gonna hurt anyone anymore."

Jake gently held her arm and lightly pulled her but she didn't budge. "We have to go. We need to get out of here." Jake calmly tells her.

She turns to Jake, her eyes red and teary. "Yeah, let's go"
