Sapphire's P.O.V.
Jake and I are currently staying at an apartment in America. He told me that we didn't have to worry about the money since he's already got that covered. I was about to ask him how but then I remembered his past job. Sherry insisted we stay in America, she said we'd have more opportunities here and it would be a lot safer for the two of us.
So now here we are, currently working on our green card. I even joked about it once; I told Jake to marry Sherry so he would be good to go and I have never seen him turn so red.
Oh, ho, ho... This is going to be fun. Can't wait to see Sherry again.
I was trying to cook an Italian dish and so far I think I'm doing great. It's lasagna. I just hope it would turn out looking like the pic online.
I finished placing all the ingredients in the glass pan and placed it in the oven. While I was waiting for it to cook, my phone rang. I picked it up from the kitchen counter. Sherry was calling.
"Hello?" I answered the call.
"Hey Sapphire, is Jake there?" Ooh, this is interesting. I couldn't help but smile as I sat down at the stool.
"Uh yeah, but he's asleep." I tell her, "Do you want me to go and wake him up for you?" The moment I said that, I see Jake walking down the stairs in sweatpants and a white shirt. "Oh, he's up, Jake—" He heads to the kitchen island and sits across from me.
I hand him my phone, "Sherry wants to talk to you."
His eyes lit up for a moment. He took the phone from me and I left the room so they could have some privacy. I was about to sit down on the couch when someone knocked on the door. I went to answer it but I looked at the peephole first to see who it was.
It was a guy wearing a suit. He looked old; maybe fifty or sixty. I unlocked the door and the man greets me.
"Good morning, Sapphire Muller?" I nod.
"I'm attorney John Tarasov, Mrs. Jenny Vasiliev's lawyer." He was holding an attache case on one hand and a small box, probably the size of a shoe box, on the other. I stepped aside and let him in.
We got to the living room, "Please, have a seat." He thanks me. I sit from the couch across him. "Would you like anything? Coffee? Water?"
"No, I'm alright." He gives me a smile. He sets the attache case and box he was holding down on the table in between us. He opens the attache case and takes out a folder. He opens the folder he was holding and hands me a paper.
"That is an affidavit of heir-ship, and it is stated that Mrs. Vasiliev is leaving you all of her prized jewelries, which is in here—" He pats the small, black box that was in front of him and slides it to me.
I picked up the box and set it on my lap. I opened it and I saw different stacks of jewelries inside of it; earrings, rings, necklaces, and a pendant.
The lawyer stayed for a while, discussing some important things I needed to know about the jewelry and my rights to it.
After our talk he got up and left, bidding me a good day; I did the same. I hear Jake's footsteps enter the room, the phone still up to his ear. He ends the call and sits on where the lawyer sat earlier.
"Where did you..." He points at the jewelry box that I was holding.
"Long story" I tell him, "Maybe next time I'll tell you about it." I heard a 'ding' in the kitchen and I got up and headed there, all the while saying, "Today's the day you head to National Security's office, right?"
"Yeah, training starts today."
"Well you should probably eat a ton, want me to pack you some food?"
