Orpheus ran alongside the rest of the people in the Inn, not quite sure what he was running from, but hey, whatever. He totally enjoyed running for no apparent reason in the middle of the night. His wavy brown hair was mussed, but his black eyes sparkled crisp with energy. His fiancee, Cherokee, ran alongside him, her curly mauve mane flowed behind her as she ran, her green eyes wide with fear.
In front of them, a pretty blonde girl sprinted, there was a petite raven haired girl, the inkeeper, and her brother jogged. But behind them was what genuinely concerned Orpheus, the entire town seemed to implode in a white smoke, the smoke turned into a mist then dissipated. Orpheus felt faint.
"What in Valla's name was that?" he yelled in Mavis' face, who was as pale as the smoke creeping around her ankles.
"Wraith." she whispered, eyes wide, she was quivering in fear.
"It just destroyed an entire village!" Cherokee wailed. "My family lives there!"
Mavis turned around, running her hands through her hair. "What do you want me to do?" she yelled right back, the tone in her voice as deadly as the wraith's. "WHAT do you want me to do!" Her eyes were yellow, an eerie haunting shade of pale gold. Orpheus slowly backed up a step, and grabbed Cherokee.
"I know runes, I can try and put her in a basic binding spell. Maybe we could get that reward from Lillith? It would pay for our wedding." Cherokee whispered into his ear, her breath cool.
Orpheus shook his head and pinched the bridge of his nose. "I guess we have to. Be quick about it though, she's powerful."
Cherokee nodded and sat down, pretending to be injured. Orpheus winced as she cried out, gasping for breath, and collapsed. She was a talented actress, so good it still pained Orpheus to see his love in so much pain.
Cherokee had Elvish roots, as was still apparent in her high cheekbones, ivory skin, mauve hair, and slightly pointed ears, but also showed in her ability for Ancient Rune Magick, which could be conveyed through simple stones patterns, which were obviously pre-made or she couldn't even offer to use her Magick.
Immediately, Mavis rushed over and placed a hand on Cherokee's forehead, but as soon as she did, Mavis' hand turned a pale blue, which spread ancient rune-writing all over her body, her eyes went entirely blue, as did her teeth. The look of shock frozen on her face as she collapsed.
Cherokee sighed and rose, kissed Orpheus on his lips, and stared at Mavis.
Aislinn rushed forward, to protect her cousin, but Cherokee was faster. Again, with the same movements, and a syllable in the Forgotten Tongue, Aislinn fainted along with the rest of the survivors. Cherokee smiled, and kissed Orpheus again, before saying
"Let's bring her with us. The rest will wake up soon."
PS- Rune Magick is an incredibly difficult and rare magick only practiced by the Elite Blood of the Elvish Kingdom.
