Mavis had an armload of bags by the time she was done with her shopping excursion. She bought relatively plain dresses, plenty of food, the cat, and a few new inconspicuous talismans that nobody would question her having, well, and she splurged on a new emerald ring that matched her cloak so well. She was well on the East side of the Village, about half an hour away from the city center. The moon was rising, and Mavis was growing increasingly concerned. She was a walking target, with a pretty face, and tons of bags.

The lanterns flickered, the cat, newly named "Charli" (per his request), hissed.

Someone's coming. Charli hissed, and sure enough there was a man that looked like Robin Hood leaning casually against the wall.

Mavis bristled, she didn't know if her magick was ready for battle.

"Why aren't you a pretty little morsel, love." he drawled, inching closer. He reeked of arrogance, but Mavis couldn't help notice the definition in his biceps.

"Stay away from me." Mavis warned, and took a step back, which seemed to be an invitation for the attacker.

He slipped a silver knife out of his pocket.

"Don't make me hurt you, love." He said, a mischevious smile in his green eyes. Mavis felt something snap inside her, before she knew what she was doing, her eyes were that terrible yellow. Glowing.

"What the?" The man followed this with a string of cuss words as he threw the knife with a huntsman's accuracy.

Mavis spread her fingers in front of her face, stopping the knife mid-flight, it was poised to stab her neck. With a quick twirl of her fingers she let the knife clatter to the ground. She tensed her hands in a movement that would strangle an invisible neck, the man slid up the wall of a nearby house, hanging by his neck, she wasn't going to kill him yet.

"What are you? Don't hurt me." he pleaded, his eyes reflected hers, genuine fear etched into his handsome features.

Mavis smiled, but her blood went sour on the inside- who was she? She let a manicured finger trail along his cheek, but before she could speak somone yelled.

"Hey! Leave him alone!" A deep feminine voice bellowed, but the petite girl with ebony hair behind her shocked her even more.

"Aislinn?" Mavis whispered before she took off running, leaving everything behind except Charli who scampered behind her at her heels.
