Tamblinn extricated herself from her mother and ran to the entrance of the Glen. From under her silk dress she pulled a sheet of birch paper and an ink pen. She would write to her sister about this.

      Dear Aislinn,

Tonight at dinner we got into an argument about Laverna. Granddad was so angry at Ravenna that she left the hall and we haven't seen her since.

Snow always says that it's best to have hope and that as the royal family we're expected to carry on with grace and strength. I wish Mom wasn't a princess.

What is it like to live with Laverna's daughter? Is she evil like her mom? A wild card like Cherokee was before she was killed? I know you're traveling with a human boy and one of Laverna's demon servants. Humans and demons, Aislinn--I hope you know the kind of danger you're in. But Mom always says that humans aren't all bad and demons can't do much without a master. Our dad was human. Did you know that, Aislinn?

I hope you're okay and the demon doesn't kill you and the human doesn't try to use you for our magick and that the messenger Granddad sent finds you and that you're not dead like Cherokee. Uncle Sardomian is teaching me to dream walk. He told me you're already good at it, but you don't want to move out of your own dreams. Try it!!! I want to see my sister.

I tried drawing you yesterday. Mom says that you have our dad's hair and eyes, but our face. I think you'd be beautiful.

Tamblinn

Tamblinn sealed the letter and put it back into the dress's pocket. It would go in a small wooden box in her room which contained all the other letters she'd written to her older sister over the years. When Aislinn came home, she could read the letters and know about everything that had happened in the Glen over the past few years. Tamblinn couldn't wait.
