After the men had all left, it was just me, Jack, Barbossa, Will and a few others. Me and Jack were just rummaging around the treasure. I found a few things that I liked, trophies, cups, necklaces. I'm pretty sure that Jack liked everything. The pirate and his treasure, it brought I small smile to my face to see him so invested in something. Then after a few moments I heard Barbossa's voice speak up.
"Ye know lass, ye remind me o' me'self, fiesty, strong willed, stubborn, yet caring," he began. I think he realised he tripped up as he stopped talking and shut his mouth. Had he said something he shouldn't have? I guess to me it was kind of a compliment.
"When have you ever been caring?" I spat. From all that I'd seen he didn't care about anyone. He looked away and didn't answer the question. I looked at Jack who shrugged and continued to look through treasure as if nothing had happened.
"None o' your business!" he spoke, playing catch with an apple he was holding. Did he have an addiction to them or something? He was always holding one. Still I did wonder who he had once cared for. Maybe he had had a wife or something, and she died? Possibly, piracy is a dangerous life I suppose. Either way, as he said, it was none of my business.
I nodded at him to know that I understand before I walked back next to Jack, and passed him a ring that I thought he might like. He looked up and me and grinned, sliding it on his finger before continuing to search for more. I couldn't say that I wasn't attracted to the treasure too, it was very shiny after all.
It was a while before Barbossa said anything before he said,
"I must admit Jack, I thought I had ye figured, but it turns out yer a hard man t' predict,"
I smirked when I looked at Jack, who tossed a golden figure aside.
"Me I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest, honestly, it's the honest ones ye want to watch out for, as ye can never predict when there going to do something incredibly..... stupid" he explained before grabbing a sword off a crewman and tossing it to Will. I unsheathed my own and got ready to fight.
Jack always talked in really complicated ways, but this time I managed to make sense of it, maybe I was just getting used to it now, but I was beginning to find it less funny and more intellectual, in short terms, I liked it.
Barbossa looked perplexed at how we were going to take our chances fighting him and his crew, they were cursed after all, and couldn't be killed. When I actually began to think about it, why was Jack picking a fight with them? I looked over at him in fear and confusion and he just winked.
Helpful Jack, very helpful. He then charged straight for Barbossa as he stood up and unsheathed his sword. I ran over to help Will get free of his bonds, but then I realized he was already free as some other man had accidentally cut them loose.
I looked over to Jack again just as he cut off the feather from Barbossa's hat. He gave him a death glare before lashing out at Jack, who looked fearful. I ran over to help him but he saw me.
"I'll be fine love, help the whelp!" he yelled above the commotion. I nodded and ran back over to Will, who was in the middle of fighting three different pirates. He was relieved when he saw me take on two of them, leaving him with only one.
The pirates I were fighting weren't particularly skilled, I knew I could beat them but the fact of the matter was they couldn't be killed, all I had to do was hold them off long enough for Jack's plan to take action.
Out of the corner of my eye I watched Barbossa shove Jack. I just prayed he didn't get hurt in the battle. I cared for him.
I was wondering where Elizabeth was, with the crew, what was taking her so long?
