When l kissed you that should have been the end of it
The sky should have blackened
And l should have walked away to find someone else who could give me the stars
I should have found someone with simpler ways and a simpler heart
But the stars shone that night
And so did your eyes
And so did my life
I'm sorry, darling
I forgot that our hearts are similar to glass houses
I broke yours, and you broke mine
And it has to be fine, l guess
We made it through the hurricane
We can still pick up the debris
And make another house
Weaker, of course, but still a house
Another fragile glass house
I should have left you alone...
