Previously before all previously's:
"What do you mean there's a super hero lady at the Blockbuster in town?" I demanded. I stared at Reyna incredulously. The tall girl who had only started the previous week as Maria Hill was staring unflinchingly at her screen.
"I didn't say 'super hero lady,' Fury," Reyna said calmly. "I said that a blonde girl dressed in a space suit fell through the ceiling of a Blockbuster and proceeded to patch a call through a pay phone to space. She's still there now actually. I would suggest taking Phil. He's getting antsy."
"'Super hero lady' was easier to say," I grumbled. "It makes sense to call her that, she survived the fall through a roof."
"Just come on, Nick," Phil Coulson grabbed my arm and dragged me out the door. "We don't have time for your antics."
We drove up to the Blockbuster and saw a civilian in his car not too far away. He pointed in the direction of the pay phone and we saw the blonde lady dressed in a green and black suit, fiddling with something on her wrist.
I knocked on the glass. "Excuse me, Miss, but do you know anything about a lady blowing a hole through the roof of that Blockbuster over there? Witness says she was dressed for laser tag."
Do I think myself funny? Yes, yes I do.
"Oh," the lady said. "Yeah, I think she went that way."
"Oh, I'd like to ask you some questions," I said, holding my ID up for her to see. "Maybe, give you the full one-one on the late night Dropbox." Oh, yeah. So very funny. "Could I see some ID, please?"
"Vers, Free Star Force, we don't carry our identifications on little cards," she said, giving me a totally fake sympathetic look.
"Vers, Star Force," I decided to play along for a bit. "How long do you plan to be in town?"
"I'l be out of your hair as soon as I track down the skrulls that have infiltrated your planet."
"Skrulls?" I questioned. Should I still play along?
"Shape-shifters? They can transform into any life form down to their DNA? Oh, boy. You guys don't have any clue, do you?" She looked exasperated.
Should we?
"How do we know you're not one of those...skrulls?" I asked, barely keeping in a laugh.
"Congratulations, Agent Fury, you finally asked a relevant question," she said with a very annoying smile.
"No, congratulations to you, Star Force lady! You are under arrest." So I got tired of playing along, sue me.
Before the police officer we brought along could cuff her, she pushed me out of the way of a blast that was definitely not a bullet or a laser for laser tag. She shot back with her...fist? How in the world...? And ran off after the guy who shot at us.
Nico and I watch for a second and she disappeared behind the building.
"Is it too late to retire?" I asked him.
"I believe so, sir," he answered. I gave him a weird look.
"You never called me 'sir,'" I pointed out. "You always call me boss because Blackjack does." I narrowed my eyes at 'Coulson.' "What are you doing on this planet, skrull?"
