Hello Wendizzy, thank you so much for being here with us today to participate in our interview. Congratulations once again on your 1st Place win in the Paranormal/Vampire/Werewolf category of our awards! Let's get right to the questions!
1. What was your favorite part of writing A Lovely Nightmare, and what was the most challenging part?
I loved the ability to be random and ridiculous with this one, but it was a challenge to get it all cohesive. Took three drafts to get it there, as well as countless edits.
2. If you had to pick one song that you feel represents or speaks to your story, what would it be?
It's funny because I pick songs to get me into scene with each of my stories and end up having a full playlist by the end. With A Lovely Nightmare it was a lot of Alt J and K flay. Eerie sort of songs.
3. Where do you get the inspiration for your characters?
My family. We all act like that lmao
4. What advice would you give to a writer just starting out?
There's a process when it comes to writing, and you should never worry too much about being perfect on the first draft. Get the story out. First drafts are prep work. The second draft is when you really start to create the story.
5. Who are some of your favorite authors or favorite books?
Right now, it's Amy Harmon. Her prose is truly noteworthy. I just finished listening to the audiobook version of The Law Of Moses and I no longer feel worthy to create lol
6. What are some of your hobbies outside of writing?
The rest of my spare time is devoted to finding fun things for my kids to enjoy.
7. What are some of your favorite stories you've read on Wattpad or favorite Wattpad authors?
Storm and Silence series. Hands down. Sir Rob is a hysterical genius and I want to be him if I ever grow up.
8. Where do you write? What is your routine/process?
I like to write in the mornings, in my garage, with tons of coffee and other vices that drive me to my grave.
9. How did you feel when you were announced as a 1st place winner?
I was excited and humbled to have won. :)
10. How many cats is too many cats?
I wouldn't know lol. I'm not allowed to have one. I found a Hemingway kitten online that I already had a name picked for and everything. He was going to chill on my lap while I created worlds. My landlord told me absolutely no. I'm looking for places for rent ;)
