"What's going on here?" Ren questioned frostily as we approached ruckus. His frigid tone silenced the once lively atmosphere, making it deadly quiet. We threaded through the sea of people to be met with an unpleasant sight.

An ebony haired male was on the verge of going animalistic, but was held back by Izumi and Nao. The target that Kyo was keen on pummeling was a smug-looking teen with ginger hair. Although the male was foreign to Y/N, the person next to him wasn't.

Y/N's eyes widened at the sight of the conflict and ran up to Ayato for an explanation. Her actions were unnoticed though as Ren had to hold the urge to keep the H/C haired girl by his side.

She anxiously asked, "What happened here, Ayato? Why does Kyo look like he's about to punch your friend's face in?"

Ayato scratched his head and stroked his imaginary beard, racking up his thoughts. After a few minutes, he replied, "I think Haruko accidently hit him with a volleyball. . .He must've thought it was on purpose."

Y/N gazed at Ayato in puzzlement, in which Ayato filled her in with more helpful information. He continued, "The tennis and volleyball team are not really on friendly terms."

"It started off with who could get more recognition from the school. Then, it spiralled to who could get more championships. Tennis lost by one championship last year so I guess a volleyball is a sore object to see?" By the end of his explanation, Ayato was uncertain himself as he had only joined this year as well. "I don't have any grudges against tennis though, but from what I've heard, it's not really good."

Whilst Y/N pried more information out of Ayato, Ren frigidly stepped in. He tsked at Kyo, showing his irritation, then turned to the ginger that provoked the fight. Marching up callously towards him, he snatched the volleyball from the male's hands.

With the ball in his hands, Ren threw it to the floor, and audaciously stepped on it, flattening it in the process. The ginger, whose name Y/N just learned, was Haruko. The timid teen flinched a little from Ren's unwavered face.

"Y-You guys will pay for this!" Haruko yelled, trying to intimidate Ren, but couldn't do so as his words stuttered. Ren glared at him frigidly, daring him to come closer.

Nevertheless, the ginger backed away when he realized that he was no match against Ren's hostile stature.

"That's my cue," Ayato pointed at the retreating red head. He shot her a small grin before waving a goodbye to her. "See you around, Y/N!"

"See you." She waved until she couldn't see the male in her sight anymore. Then, she turned to the four males that were unknowingly staring at her. She tilted her head curiously, "Do you guys need something?"

Simultaneously, a chorus of voices replied with the same answer. "Stay away from him."

"Hmm?" Y/N hummed, furrowing her eyebrows. She was surprised from the sudden aggression in the boys' tones. "Why? Ayato seems nice."

"That's what he wants you to believe," Izumi advised ardently whilst picking up sign-up papers that scattered on the floor. "He claims to be oblivious to this stuff, but his older brother was the one who started this ongoing rivalry."

Y/N kneeled next to the blonde headed male, helping him clean up the mess from the fight. She halfheartedly complied, "I guess. . ."

After fixing the booth back to its original state, the female leisurely sat down on one of the vacant chairs. She watched as students came and went from one club to another. Pulling up a chair next to hers, Ren sat down.

He glanced at her before focusing his attention on the other three bustling boys. "Now that I remember. . that airhead did mention that you have no club yet. Why not join tennis when you're clearly good at it?"

Y/N tensed at the mention of the current topic, but soon relaxed when Ren didnt push further. She spoke in a low voice, "Being good at something doesn't necessarily mean that the person likes to do it."

"It's not that I hate the sport," Y/N commented, twidling my fingers. "I've practically done it my whole life so there's no point in quitting. It's just that things happened, and I just needed to take a breather before diving headfirst into the tennis pit again."

The platinum haired male straightened her fingers, seeing as how tightly clenched her fists were. He nodded understandingly.

"If you're not ready to play yet, then why don't manage the boy's team this year?" Ren questioned lightly, somewhat afraid that Y/N would run away. "You won't have to coach us or anything, we already have that covered. You just need to look over our games, and occasionally throw tennis balls at Kyo to discipline him."

The H/C haired girl laughed at his ending statement. Kyo, who was nearby, overheard their conversation. He marched up to the two and sulked, "Hmph! It only happens once a week!"

"Are you sure, Kyo?" Y/N gingerly teased him, brightening the mood tremendously. The midnight haired male nodded feverously.

"Anyways," she continued jokingly, "Are you guys sure you want me as a manager? Didn't you force four people to quit?"

"Don't say it like that." Kyo said cheekily. "We didn't force them, they were willing to do it on their own!"

"Of the four, three of them quit because you threatened to smash a tennis racquet on their head." Ren stated, giving some inside information to Y/N. He rubbed his eyes tiredly as he reminisced.

The female curiously asked, "That's three people. Why did the fourth one quit?"

"Oh, that one was actually hilarious." Kyo burst out laughing. He pointed at Izumi and Nao, who were detached from the conversation. "Those two drove the fourth one mad."

Nao looked at Kyo weirdly. Then, his ears turned pink when he realized what he was about to say. Before he could stop the words from coming out of the male's mouth, it was too late.

"Do you know how the tennis courts are located near the classrooms?" Y/N nodded, remembering her seating in Mr. Yuto's class. "Well, Nao gets scared of the ball easily so he has this habit of hitting the ball way too high. He broke atleast six windows, and the fourth manager probably went crazy from apologizing to the teachers."

Nao looked away as his dignity was shattered to pieces, and sighed as Izumi consoled him.

"On the other hand. . ." Kyo smirked, giving Izumi the revenge-is-sweet face. "My best buddy, Izumi, heard that his idol was attending this year. After hearing that, he wanted to impress her and used the same manager as target practice for his serves."

Y/N asked the black haired male quizically, "Who's his idol?

"Wow, Y/N! I'm absolutely glad you asked!" Kyo clapped his hands together and grinned cheerfully. "Well, it's no other than-"

"Don't you dare, Kyo!" Izumi yelled at the boy in frustration. Out of the corner of Y/N's eye, she saw the blonde male toss a tennis ball to Nao.

As Kyo was about to finish his sentence again, Ren pulled her to his side abruptly. She mumbled a quick thanks to him.

Thwack! Thwack!

"That's what you get, you animal!" Izumi glowered, sauntering back to his seat once he was satisfied with Kyo's punishment. Nao inaudibly whispered, "Yeah. ."

The once smirking male was now on the ground withering in pain as his hands instinctively touched the bumps on his head.

"Now I see why four people quit." Y/N commented, sitting back on her seat. She rubbed her temples whilst Ren patted her shoulder encouragingly. "This is going to be one long year."
